  • I'm not sure what you're definition of a "serious entity" is, but just because the US military has done nothing but fuck up war since Vietnam doesnt make the US non-serious.

    Appeasement has nothing to do with it. All of the world's countries need to take the threat of the US seriously. Isolation and ridicule is what the regime wants anyway. If you infuriate the population against you, suddenly the military grows in numbers.

  • Since we knew the CIA was involved in Venezuela a couple of weeks ago, it's pretty safe to assume this has been in the works for a while. My guess is that the escalating attacks were to get Maduro anxious and increase his security team. With that, the CIA human assets were put in, probably at least one with an expertise in warzone security.

    Subsequent attacks were used to build trust with the asset, and then when it was go time they advised him to seek emergency shelter, and delivered him right into CIA arms.
