  • Many more likely use SEPA invoices or direct payments, which seem way better. But I dont know, the FSFE could absolutely use more donators, they are doing very important legal and policy work for free software.

  • I think i use dash as my standard shell, but fish as my user shell. So it might point to fish, which doesnt work. Only using fish in my terminal could fix this.

  • I think so. If I do ./script.sh I get fish errors, same with . script.sh

    Only sh script.sh works, which is dash inside of fish

  • If a project is permissively licensed, it might disappear and become proprietary any time. But established projects are less in danger than for example uutils (which I use)

  • Yes that is what I do. But bash snippets dont work in fish.

    I could learn something better like lua, but never used it

  • I am not sure I understood. I have a Nextcloud client and sync to a server I dont trust. Or that I dont want to encrypt with LUKS.

    And I want to open decrypted tiles, use them and save them encrypted to a directory that I sync with Nextcloud.

    All the rest is with syncthing between trusted devices

  • This would only work on single files or archives, but yes probably a good idea. I think cryptomator slices up files into equal pieces and then encrypts both, protecting against analysis of file types, but being sync-friendly.

  • It needs to be repeatable easily and easy to use for sync. This method would always encrypt everything new.
