  • Sorry what does maple syrup have to do with this?

  • I think that’s partially “I can spot toupees” logic

  • It’s perfectly normal for an 80 year old to have health issues

It isn’t to pretend he’s a god and lie about those issues. It isn’t normal to pretend this doesn’t affect their ability to do an important job too.

  • I don’t totally disagree, I’ve never seen an actual distribution of random iq scores

  • The last few years have taught me that the difference between stupid and not stupid is oceans wider than I thought.

I turns out stupid people are closer to what I thought the intelligence of an animal was.

These people literally don’t think. They basically pattern match and that’s it. There’s no deeper reasoning. There’s no capacity for nuance, no understanding or extension of empathy. They can barely read. If you string the gibberish from an AI they’ll blindly trust that it’s correct above all evidence.

Meanwhile we’re seeing all these nuanced multi step problem solving behaviours from birds and all animals and even bumblebees…

  • Under a normal distribution/bell curve mean and median are the same.

  • This is the US government hobbling Anthropic after they didn’t let the pentagon use it for building a domestic surveillance and autonomous weapons systems.

But I don’t doubt the US will continue trying to block AI exports.

  • This is either in a category theory book or was written by someone who is going to fucking hate category theory

  • Oops

  • Yes, they found a bullshit hidden test that other models also pass.

OpenAI didn’t get blocked. But they are letting the Trump admin build the surveillance state ABS weapons with their models.

  • I noticed this over a year ago. It has not changed.

ChatGPT, Claude, qwen, Gemma, glm ALL do this.

  • Is this canon?

  • I definitely said a stupid thing.

A diploma is not nothing, I just think it’s not the only thing. Traditional paths just never worked for me and there are others out there too.

I don’t mean to belittle you or people with a degree. I know that’s what it reads as though and I’m sorry for that.

But yes, hiring someone with that experience is going to need to be hand held significantly for years, and that’s something you don’t foist on people. It’s not going to speed a team up, and prior who don’t want to teach aren’t good teachers.

  • I’m a person who dropped out and I’ll be the first to say I don’t think a diploma means much. But I taught myself programming when I was 13, did programming competitions, math contests, and have spent thousands of hours programming, working on algorithms, reading math books, etc. And I know where I’m out of my depth.

That being said, that’s NOTHING in experience. They could learn from there, but they’d be a very very hands on intern.

  • Normally you would see the massive shortfall where ~15% of global oil demand needs to be destroyed by price increases, and you would then assign the risk that happens, and take the integral over your risk distribution times your pricing scenarios.

However, two things are going wrong:

    • markets wildly overestimate Trump’s words and ability to resolve this, so are mis estimated risk
    • oil execs are happy with the extra income

So they’ve put off the price increases entirely because of hubris.

  • Dammit

  • It was likely a her

  • I’ve used Macs for 20 years (fuck I’m old)

I did get a Linux PC last year though and it’s great too!

  • It’s starting to look like a lot of rats are trying to leave the ship, but won’t go public and betray that slavish loyalty.

So it’s Trump’s health that bad, or is there about to be something big related to Epstein that the Vance aligned think they can use to get rid of Trump?

  • Let’s not also blame credential mills and telling everyone “just learn to code” while ruinning every traditional career and stagnating wages.

  • What an awful job
