"If man chooses oblivion, he can go right on leaving his fate to his political leaders. If he chooses Utopia, he must initiate an enormous education program - immediately, if not sooner."-R B Fuller

  • "Till death do us part" made a lot more sense when most people never made it to 65.

Nowadays, with the over-100 bracket being the fastest growing demographic (albeit from a very small base), the whole idea of monogamy starting in one's 20s becomes less and less aligned with psychological and social reality.

  • What about “stochastic probabilistic”, “no more training data” and “AI has hit a wall”?

They're in the same memory hole as "model collapse" -- remember 2 years ago when AI was fucked because models trained on model output are destined to 'collapse' and go stupid?

Well lots and lots of really really smart people were highly incentivized to fix that. They did a lot of very clever vector calculus and now all the models are pre-trained on model-generated "synthetic data" along with most of the Internet.

It's like the Pandemic Facebook PhD's all over again. Except this time it's in data science instead of virology.

"Over the last 50 years, regulated market economies have produced more wealth, pulled more people out of poverty, and resulted in less war than any other economic system in any period of history."

In other words, the status quo of the last 50 years that everyone blames everything on, was in fact an exceptionally GOOD period of human history.

  • Isn’t it basically how Russia and China operate? Keep your own people isolated in a bubble where only your narrative is accepted

    It's the authoritarian playbook.

Also how MAGA keeps ~30 million US voters hypnotized. Just like Russian ZOV

  • That was a surprisingly good writeup

just attended virtually a celebration for one of our children when she had a freak, vast cardiovascular event—and died instantly. We had been together for 36 years.

Death sucks, I hope we get massive longevity boost soon. Tempus fugit.

  • Kinda like global warming

Been going on for decades, but got really obvious in the last 2 years

  • Minor nit: Russia and Iran are already working together on shaheds and targeting

No surprise at all if they also coordinate cyber

And along with wiping the private data on the old volume, the new "duress" one should plausibly look like a boring user's actual phone-- slop family pics, Facebook, etc

  • I'll take Graphene way more seriously when it takes the theeat model seriously and uses the distress code to quietly wipe the phone in the background

Instead of making a big splash screen so even Officer Bullethead groks what's up
