  • Yeah I mentioned that incident elsewhere in this thread. It was my only time seeing his content and his response was enough to get me to not watch more. That video was so obnoxiously paternalistic and people were rather mild in how they pointed it out. He just doubled down.

  • I’ve only really run in to him when he caused grief with the knitting community with a video that had a bunch of misinformation and talking down to knitters („women have been doing this highly technical thing without maths education for hundreds if not thousands of years, here’s a bunch of male scientists to explain what they already know in more formalised and unnecessary language to them“). His reaction to the community‘s criticism soured me on him.

  • It was definitely on NZ TV. I think it was part of Squirt‘s lineup.

  • Angel is pretty good but takes a season or so to find its feet.

  • You just ordered 1000L of milk.

  • Tommy Tuberville sounds like a Stan Lee character that Spider-Man fights as a villain when he tries to go on holiday.

  • Willkommen in Deutschland. Yeah, Google added a „this restaurant has a lot of deleted reviews“ thing because German laws make it very easy for them to take down any criticism (unless customers can prove they were there with a receipt).

  • I feel like calling „hallucinations“ a side effect isn’t really describing the issue properly. They’re not a side effect, nor are they hallucinations. It implied that there’s somehow something that distinguishes „correct“ output from „incorrect“. There isn’t, it’s all just output. The output resembling actual factual reality is statistical chance.

  • One has to assume the body of the helicopter is a perfectly spherical cow.

  • I hate it because it’s generally intensely US-centric. Not understanding non-US accents or terms.

  • Rust takes a lot of getting used to if you’re more familiar with C-derived languages but it’s very cool. I’d recommend something small and not needing asynchronous code to begin with (async Rust is… hairy)

  • There was a coffee shop in my home town that did nachos with black olives. It was not as bad as you might expect.

  • It’s pretty miserable to play solo unless you tweak the settings heavily, and I’m saying that as someone tackling GregTech New Horizons solo at the moment.

  • Where are you hanging out that has you so bitter over gifs? Find a better community or friends.

  • No you’re just confident despite your ignorance. Turning waste heat into electromagnetic radiation is not easy or efficient - 100 to 350W per square meter in current space craft. The sheer scale of radiators necessary in a orbital data centre would dwarf the footprint of the servers themselves.

  • This kills the crab server.

  • I don’t agree at all. The first book was great, no argument there - but the series matures with Le Guin as it goes. It’s a truly magnificent breakdown of the fantasy genre.
