F*** Wayland

  • It's not a coup until he tries to hang on to power after his constitutionally mandated term is up.

Until then, I don't care how unpopular his crap is - people PUT him in that office despite OVERWHELMING evidence that this is EXACTLY what we were going to get. It is fascism, but it's fascism the American people CHOSE. The people who voted for the only way the prevent him have a case for their absolution in this, but absolutely EVERYONE else, including the society that allowed this itself, is culpable. There is no getting away from that.

  • "If you google Chicxulub (the dinosaur killing space rock), the AI summary burns a gallon of gas, contributing to making the planet uninhabitable, helping to create your very own mass extinction event"

  • People started doing it professionally when the ad money came in. Before that people did it for the love of the content, and it was lower production quality, but better content.

  • Don't worry. Those normies are about to cost us the whole open web, and there's nothing we can do to stop them.

  • I am so tired of "journalism" that's just shocked Pikachuing about crap that people already know, and HAVE already known, for YEARS.

It's either a total waste of time, or people are so thick and oblivious that they don't know something that's been staring them DIRECTLY In the face for AGES, and I honestly can't decide which explanation is more depressing.

  • You can't trick me. I read Galapagos.

  • Don't care. As long as that shit-stain is in power, damage mitigation just plays into his hands.

The US is plagued by a cancer, and there's no way to excise it without further casualties. The only hope we have is chemotherapy and the hope that when the smoke clears it's the patient that survives.

Apathetic, moronic accelerationists set us on that path. The consolation is that a bunch of THEM will assuredly suffer too.

  • "Peace president"

  • There have been enough horrible earthquakes and heinous loss of life that they take the lesson to heart.

  • Don't worry - no Americans will make any connections to 1984, because instead of reading the book in high school, most of them were eating paint chips.

  • ok then

  • With the proliferation of age checks, we're only a couple steps away from "age checks aren't sufficient to protect our children. We need ISP level whitelisting of sites that obey the law."

And then if VPNs manage to get around that with any reliability? Well, be ready for the hardware you need to take advantage of it to double every couple of years while the component supply is strangled to death.

Also, moves now to give OPERATING SYSTEM level "age verification" to any site that asks, which will ABSOLUTELY not be done to identify individuals. No sir. Not at all.

The past 30 years have been DRM. The next 30 are gonna be "You can't access the tools you need to even think about it anymore."

  • American who packed up and left here.

You're not wrong. The good and the evil are probably about equal, but the apathetic/nihilists/accelerationists/centrists, who are equally as abhorrent as the evil, make up a full other third.

  • But then they'll just lea...

  • The difference between 20 years ago and now is companies have been slowly setting up all the dominoes to make piracy nearly impossible in the near future. I don't think people are aware of how screwed we really are.

  • It goes right into the living rooms of all the morons we still have left from 2004 who insisted "you can't change presidents during a war!"
