  • Reddit keeps pushing on being a closed platform, now rolling out mandatory logging for old.reddit.com - worth pushing for the fediverse again?

  • Me too! I never went back to Reddit though. I lost my account with rif that was carefully built over years. I still can't figure out lemmy, fediverse, whatever it's called. The tech is not something I care about. I want a simple and easy to use interface, like rif. But this is 1000 times better than dodging ads, bots and trolls on an over-capitalized website.

  • People spent decades preventing wildfires. Fires are a natural part of ecological systems. Overgrowth and a build up of litter cause more intense fires and increase their ability to spread. In northern regions, people were also preventing beavers from doing their thing that helps reduce wildfire spread. At least in Florida we pioneered controlled burns to simulate nature and save lives.

  • Do you remember C2? I don't typically choose soda as a beverage but I got one for free from a promotion at work. I always hated artificial sweetner flavor but it tasted okay. I took one sip and went to the stock room where my heart suddenly raced and I got nautious and dizzy. It was scary since I was alone in the back. I recovered after a few minutes and never again touched anything diet.

  • I believe the point of this version is to show the magnitude of change. They could have done a line graph with the same data but that would give different information perspective. It's not as visually appealing this way but this is how metrics are evaluated.
