  • Yeah I agree. Seems like people are actively using their platforms. Its fun to see like startreck website person talking to a lemmy.world person arguing with a piefed person. All getting confused about a post on the sdf funhole community or something.

    Im seeing a bit more comments on some niche communities I frequent. Its still a bit of a stop and go but thats how early websites/early reddit/etc.. all felt and worked.

    Im liking the new mastodon integration work being done between piefed/mastodon. Ive been seeing better stuff coming out of lemmy. Mastodon seems to be using up less resources recently. And im seeing more and more people on the fedi just...around.

    Screenshots on traditional media is starting to have screenshots of fedi resources like a mastodon post. So thats how you know when things are picking up..when they start stealing from you haha.

  • Its quite common in some industries. Lots of different git remote references no github. It works well when you dont care or dont want piulic repos out in the wild.

    I used to do a ton of contract work that way. It went away forva bit but about 3 years ago its coming back. Ive heard complaits about ai and that github is much less stable.

    You cant have downtime in some industries.

  • I had a 4 I think? That one lasted about a year and a half before the battery wouldn't last more than half a day. Then it bricked one day. Not sure what happened.

    The 6a was the worst. It was cheap and good at first. But then kept getting hotter and hotter...almost burnt me.

  • I think you should be able to emulate /e/ OS to try out some stuff? Maybe someone else can chime in. Dont know if that helps or not.

    My 2fa works in /e/ but im going to assume other OSes probably wont.

  • I use android via /e/os. But I cannot experiment with my only phone. There is 2fa and other such services that I have to have access to. Worst case, I cant get into accounts and such.

    FF is a great phone btw.

    I have owned two google phones. Both had hardware issues/battery issues and one almost exploded. One day it got super hot and the battery turned into a spicy pillow. Sorry but im not going to get another google phone as long as I live. Neither lasted more than 2 years.

  • Is there a good small cheap repairable phone out there? I have a fairphone4 and I LOVE /E/ OS. But I would also like to actually USE a linux phone. And I cant experiment as much as I would want on my main phone.

    Ive almost thought about carrying a tiny burner phone then a small laptop for everything else.

  • Thats really interesting. Thanks! Is there a way to test this or command line tool? I suppose I could try and create my own tool, but im assuming there is a tool here im just not seeing.

    I see a LOT of claims by people in this thread. It would be nice if they would give proof one way or another.
