  • to be precise, it's authoritarian oligopoly. Fascism has a few key characteristics missing from this - mainly the threat of worker's revolt/communism and a large amount of war veterans moving away from liberalism.

    Doesn't mean it's not disgusting and shouldn't be overthrown immediately. But 20th century European fascism has a different context.

  • Yup. Same way the cops break up a protest - you arrest people on nonsense charges, take them in and book them, and by the time you're released the event is over.

    And by the time it comes to trial, they dismiss and you take it since the alternative is to fight a battle that will take over your life, and not change that.

    That said, considering that most liberals think smashing windows makes police murder OK, I do think they're not insane for thinking plenty will roll over and spread. They mean it - and outside the commies, too many Americans who supposedly oppose the GOP fascism don't.
