  • most pedophilic religion in modern human history

Have you run the numbers? There's a serious competition there.

  • Nukes can fast-forward the world into a late-war environment in a couple of hours. But it's not actually known if they can end a war.

Unless you are talking about those "Earth's crust destroying" nukes. But no country has actually built those.

  • That, but with 800% error margins.

  • I mean... It was a cheap joke, but money and trade are not requirements for an economy.

If you look at ants, balancing defense (and offense for some species) with colony upkeeping is a serious problem. The Borg also have a "Roman Empire" situation where their wealth comes from war, so yeah, it would be really complicated.

  • Do you have any idea how long it takes to manufacture a cube?

They would need to start sourcing it from contractors 2 centuries before the war, and the effort they put into it would destroy their economy.

  • Fascists are all the same.

Sounds a lot like Hitler decreeing quantum mechanics a "Jew science" and expelling almost everybody that knew nuclear physics from the country.

  • Wait, wasn't it a metaphor for "some nuclear reactor so rudimentary that they could as well use steam engines"? I really don't remember it well.

Anyway, he's famous for running the numbers for some things. But yeah, he absolutely didn't do it for all things.

  • They have to practice their construction skills...

  • Star Wars even have a city covering an entire planet

Yes, they copied it from Foundation. Trantor has a perfectly fine reason for being the way it is, that would apply to Corusant too.

That is, if physics actually allowed them to be that way. Apparently Asimov didn't run the numbers on that one.

  • Well, not exactly biomes. That one it doesn't have.

  • Luckily every sentient species in the galaxy has close to the same height and sits in the same position...

  • I would be severely disappointed if I took a beating and then got to my table and my beer was all spilled over.

And I'd be even more disappointed if I won a beating and the same happened.

  • So, if I'm reading things right, anything that runs on Z-Wave or Zigbee will necessarily run locally, because those are mesh protocols?

Anyway, thanks a lot. Those are really simple keywords to check.

  • I've been looking for some smart outlets, and it seems impossible to discover which ones can be used with normal well-known protocols and which can only be used through a phone app locked into a cloud service.

  • other nuclear powers may respond with non-nuclear weapons on the US

No country will respond with non-nuclear weapons to a country nuking another for no reason at all. That's just asking the US to nuke them too.

If countries respond, it would be with nukes.

  • Well, by definition they are.

  • You are saying that the error messages terminate at some point?

  • Somebody please, present non-imperative languages to that blog author...
