  • Plenty of underutilized names there.

I mean "scintillation counter"?! That's all the way to the right.

  • Just think the light from that star was emitted before even COVID!

  • If the original phrase was true and the market for software was saturated, the point would be that more productive people would outcompete you out of your job. The correct answer is to either get the most productivity possible so you'll end up a little richer, or switch careers.

But both the original phrase is a lie and the market for software is nowhere close saturation.

  • They should migrate their code to use some technology that scales well... Like web servers and git.

  • They were the ones that invented LLM assisted coding...

  • Yep. It's free, it's faster, and it has in-vehicle catering!

  • Is the vehicle¹ supposed to be used on the UK or Australia?

1 - Honestly, I almost wrote "car" there, but no idea what this thing is named.

  • IMO, the easiest way to make your system not swap into some disk you don't want it to is to not enable any swap partition on that disk.

If it's using that much RAM for cache, it will survive not having a swap with a minimum impact on performance.

  • plugging this into 2 outlets on the same side of your electrical panel won’t do anything.

That's only true if your house runs on DC.

  • If both outlets are wired correctly, as I’m envisioning it, the extension cord is parallel to the existing branch.

You can't just branch and reconnect AC power lines at random points.

Or rather, you can, maybe only once though.

  • Why? Just get an HD camera. They aren't that expensive anymore.

  • The US has ended just the Iran war 40 times already, without even counting the others.

  • Do you send enough email to classify for Google to allow you to contest your status as spam? Because there is a minimum.

  • Nice example of denial. Thanks.

  • With warnings and advice on how to make better wishes, yes. But it was only because he liked the person making the wishes.

(And yeah, hostile genies are too terrifying for a children's movie.)

  • It's not even the waste, that we still need to learn how to recycle. Or the apparent incapacity of any operator to reliably follow the theoretical safety guidelines...

If we put all our effort into a nuclear boom today, the plants will only arrive a decade or two after the planet has been cooked, it won't be enough to replace anything, and we will have to learn entire new ways to mine the fuel in a few decades before the stuff we can get easily is gone.

Meanwhile we are about half-way done with renewables, and the nuclear fans keep denying that...

  • Inflation does crazy stuff like that.

In the 1980s here in Brazil there were people that made a living by buying new cars and reselling them before the store managed to bring the actual car from the factory.

  • You will break people by using a proper Mm there. The GGP is harmless.

  • 600 minutes if you have had a few beers.
