  • For the record the US Treasury does actually physically burn real money. When bills become too degraded, have errors, or generally aren't fit for circulation they need to be removed. They usually contract with an outside disposal company and the process is overseen by the secret service. Usually biomedical waste services have the necessary secure procedures and equipment to properly incinerate cash

  • I know there's no internal logic here but why are they doing this?

    I have the freedom to take Ivermectin to cure any disease or the government dictates my medical choices. The vaccine is evil and will make your heart explode but we won't let liberals take it by choice, even when we cheer for their death. Government shouldn't tell me how to live except "don't take this ultra dangerous drug that you've had 5 times before with no negative impacts"

  • India/Pakistan seem to be on the brink of war, multiple European countries have elected self described fascists into power, China continues power grabbing the South China Sea, the Russia/Ukraine war, expanding climate disasters (everywhere) but largely in Africa and South America, and as mentioned the US craziness which drags everyone else into it. I think there's a pretty good argument that things are falling apart globally, it's just worse in some places than others

  • I made a lemmy post about it but I theorize they're crowdsourced AI training. Post something, post a couple of separate AI interpretations of it, then analyze the highest up voted AI and "organic" responses, and feed that back into the model. Rinse/repeat

  • I mean the bots don't help. The sheer number of obviously AI subreddits and response farms is crazy. There's like 6 prominent "Am I the Assholes", a bunch of text message "screenshot" subreddits which have always been easy to fake, and a bunch of "explain the joke" ones too. I stop reading halfway through most text posts and comments because it's obviously AI

  • I would imagine logistics simulators like Satisfactory and Factorio would give you an eye for process design and flow diagrams. It'd probably help with understanding scale, inputs, and outputs too

    Yeah that helps quite a bit. I don't know if you've ever had a maple bourbon chicken or maplewood smoked chicken but chicken and maple does work well together. Obviously maple syrup goes well with waffles too. The syrup really does tie the room together

    I will say that fried chicken is easier to fuck up than people think. As a resident of the US south I have it with regularity and a lot of it is pretty dry which sucks. Waffles however are pretty hard to fuck up. So what I'm saying is the chicken really makes or breaks the dish. Also if you have the opportunity to do it with cornbread waffles then it's a even better

    1. It doesn't matter what they do, Republicans will always blame Democrats for everything. They blame Democrats for the results of Republican policy, so why are you concerned about a blame game?
    2. Republicans have control of every part of the federal government, The House, Senate, Presidency, and Supreme Court. As long as Democrats just vote no and don't impede legislation (which they should also do, but I digress), their messaging should be "look how fucking incompetent your leadership is. They have every tool at their disposal and still can't run a government effectively." Why is it the Democrats job to assist them? It's not like Republicans would do the same

    I know the answer is that Democrats exist to placate people while Republicans continue enriching the wealthy but man it'd be nice if they grew a fucking spine

  • I would say meditation could be helpful. Being present in the moment instead of looking forward prevents that creeping dread. Likewise planning things you want to do like hanging out with friends, going to shows/movies, and group activities will probably have you focused on those on those instead of starting your week
