  • JonTron got too big for his britches, fucked off of GameGrumps and then on a podcast popped off the "50% of crimes are committed by 13% of the population" horseshit and then kept doubling down on it, now he makes just garbage tier reaction videos like once every 6 months

Similarly RubberRoss' cosplayer wife cheated on him with ProJared in what may have been the most pathetic public cuckoldry since Hogan famously belched "I can't fuck brother! I ate too much sushi" so Holly and Jared both fell apart after that

I don't know if he counts as a YouTuber because he got canceled on twitch and moved to YouTube but Dr Disrespect live streamed himself at TwitchCon including going into the public restroom where there were minors present. Which is a bad look but could maybe be seen as an accident if it didn't also come out that he was actively cheating on his wife, whom he had a child with, with women he was meeting with from Twitch. It was all a bit too much and his platform collapsed while he also started firing off lawsuits in multiple directions

  • Great decision right as we head into hurricane season. At least we haven't been setting records for the number and intensity of hurricanes, or this would be extra stupid

  • I mean, fucking whatever. Mt Rushmore sucks, I've been there. It insults the natural scenery by being a shitty half finished project on what was originally a beautiful mountain. Adding Trump to it would make it an even better metaphor for the US government, especially when he stops paying developers halfway through and we end up with a partially finished version of his face

  • We insource our torture. Outside firms never get our branding right and it sends mixed messages to our consumers and adversaries. That said, having a single app for laundering services in each region's major currency would save me a lot of time and burner phones

  • I get what you're saying but so far in my experience here the vast majority of AI content is at least identified as such. AI content is here to stay and in my opinion attempts to remove/ban it will just make it more insidious. If you go back to Reddit AI posts/comments are everywhere and absolutely none of it is labeled. On lemmy people get to choose to interact with it which I think is probably way better

  • That's a fair criticism. It's the anti-noir which by definition means that the mystery isn't smart or sexy. It's a bunch of idiots and coincidences that resolve their problems through happenstance. I happen to be one of the people who finds those idiots unbelievably engaging. Honestly there's a lot of similarity to Seinfeld

  • A. Fucking. Men. Brother

  • Great point. I'm sure like most things related to shitty American politics if you go back far enough there's Reagan bullshit in there too. We had a lot of opportunities to not be here, and yet here we are

  • "Hey I know just made more money than the Roman empire was worth by manipulating politics but ummmmm... could you please make rules that stop you from beating everyone else?"

The time to stop this was in 2016. Democrats had every opportunity and continued to fellate their corporate overlords instead of even paying lip service to their base. We're in the "find out" phase. I'm sorry you're losing your job, but guess what, it only gets worse from here

  • I know this is all about optics, but I'm sure for all the people who have had to deal with the criminal justice system they also know how shitty it is. 91% of cases result in a guilty plea, 7% end up in some sort of dismissal and only 2% actually go to trial. The system is built to make being guilty the easiest choice, and your lawyer will do everything in their power to get you to take it

  • Feels like weak reporting from Ars to not include this Adam Ragusea video where he talks about exactly this study, and seems to have been the person who identified the math error. He does however come to a similar conclusion as the scientists

  • Personally I find 90% of the spam is AI slop anyway. I just hide every AI community I see and my all feed is like 8% porn. Easy enough to hide with my subscribed/local feeds

  • Calling electric cars part of a hype cycle feels a little disingenuous to me. Either we get rid of cars, society ends, or all cars go electric. Considering that option 1 causes option 2 unless there's a revolutionary tech breakthrough, I think it's safe to assume electric cars are the future. Also I don't forsee a peak in hype for them, there's generally a lot of resistance to electric cars

Aside from the random dig at electric cars, I largely agree with this article. I don't think the chicken coop machine learning example is quite clear to non-technical people, but I think it's probably appropriate for the lemmy userbase

  • New High Score

Eh, give us another round. I bet we can top it

  • I mean this as politely as possible but you thought a man name Goku, who won martial arts tournaments through deceptive techniques, had a monkey tail, transformed into an ape, used a magic cloud as transportation, and had an extending pole as a weapon was unrelated to Journey to the West?

  • That sentence does not inspire hope

  • In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not going to have to vote.

    • Donald Trump, July 26th 2024
  • You have far more hope than I do. Republicans are dogs chasing cars, they know what they want, they just don't know what happens after. They want a permanent Christo-fascist government and we just handed them all the power to make it happen. People keep saying "there's rules about this, there's procedures, we have safeguards" as if that impeded him at all in his first term. The only hope I have is that they're too stupid and incompetent to pull it off
