  • My friend's a chef and his wife is a picky eater and so are the kids. It's crazy the lengths he goes to to make sure that everyone will eat.

    The way I was raised was that I had to eat everything that was given so I'm kinda blown away at this.

  • I have an AWS friend and he says most of these stats are BS. I think he said an AWS report claimed that a team increased productivity by X% by using AI. He was like, that's awesome, I know that team and I'm gonna speak to them! They said they basically felt like it improved productivity by that amount and submitted that to the survey the higher ups sent around.

  • It's what I use when I need a bit of a UI for some things. I use the terminal mostly but Lazygit is great.

  • Yeah, I didn't see the use for them until I got further into it over just cloning. Your worktree "folders" share the same git history and stuff. So you can stash in one and apply in the other. If you do a fetch in one, it fetches for all of them.

    Whether it's worth it for others to learn these just for those things is hard to say. I picked it up simply because I was bored and wanted to pick up a new "thing".

    I guess I'm just old but I don't follow most. Even with dogpiling PirateSoftware. Yes, he's wrong and probably lied. I just don't get the hype around it. I'm happy that the hype led to Stop Killing Games getting enough traction though, that was nice.

  • I'm an extrovert and I love seeing people and I make plans that people bail on all the time. Almost always last minute.

    At the same time, I kinda get it. There's a lot of build up and expectation to do stuff and it feels like a relief to no longer be obliged to do.

  • I think it's because religions, cults, sports teams or whatever have community. Community comes with shared identities and beliefs. Nobody wants to be outcasted or shunned. So you follow along. Your friends are there, your family is there ... they all believe the same thing.

  • I grew up just following my mum around the kitchen. I remember literally watching pots of water boil. When the bubbles form and they look like eyes and stuff. When I heard the saying, I was always a bit confused until I realized I'm a weirdo.

  • It's just painting a picture. The story could just as easily been putting together a family dinner and focusing on what everyone's preferences that you've learned over the years. Or something more Lemmy based would be dealing with a production issue as a developer and then BAM dick pic.

  • I mean ... you don't have to tell me that my opinion isn't popular, it's demonstrable. My opinion is statistically insignificant.

    There's a plethora of other things I'd give up like have a slighter bigger phone or a worse camera or wireless charging... I'd also trade those for an SD card slot but no one agrees with me and it's just something I need to live with.
