  • We were having an urgent issue at work and my coworker said he had a solution and I said what was it and he sent like three paragraphs which I read through and I said, "what the fuck does this even say? did you even read this?" he said, he thought it was a solution and I asked why he bothered to even send it and he said he wanted to send me the "source". I was like, I don't have time to deal with the core of this issue but if anyone sends me AI shit without checking it themselves, I'm gonna flip.

  • Yeah, no jack no thanks ...

Not a deal breaker for others but it is for me. Their rationale saying that the USB-C is more resilient than the jack is weird because I've never had the jack fail and even if it does isn't that why you're selling a repairable phone to me ...?

Anyways, I see they're selling earbuds so I'm going to assume that that's their main motivator.

  • I love redheads and I didn't really understand the "ginger" hate in the US -- just thought it was dumb exaggerated stuff. I moved (back) to the UK and so many people were like "gingers are disgusting" "hey lobut, ask Sam what colour his pubes are" .. I'm like wtf is going on here, I don't understand it?

Some of my UK friends said it comes from the hatred of the Irish? Not sure why it'd be like that in the US though, it all seems weird to me.

  • he’d let claude do everything and he didn’t actually care how it worked.

    😱

I hired someone that recently put up PRs and when I asked what they were for, he had no idea ... he hasn't ran or tested a single one ... just vibing everything.

When I saw his Terraform PRs ... I was like, "show me how you run this". I shortly found out he never had Terraform installed and didn't know how to switch AWS profile at all. He let's AI do everything. Also, he kept sending me AI convos and I was like, "if you send me another one without reading it first and summarizing it for me, I'm going to lose my shit". He said, "I wanted to send you the proof" ... I said, "you sent me half a page of nonsense where you didn't respect my time enough to read yourself first"

  • I much prefer conversational style interviews. I also like having them tell me about shit and then getting into the weeds of what they've been through.

I've been through so many stupid quizzing type interviews. I remember one where they wanted to ask about covariance and contravariance and I roughly stated I learned about it when writing my own compiler and it's about types and how one can follow the typing direction of typing, for let's say parameter/return values and the other can go the other way but I forget which is which typically. The guy was like, "guess which one is which?" I said, "why? it'd just be a guess, I thought I demonstrated that I'm at least familiar with the concepts", he said, "I can't mark down you got this question is right unless you get the right answer" ... I said, "let's skip it then".

Another one was where he asked me if I knew "WPF" which is a Microsoft framework to write desktop apps. I said, "it's not on my CV, and I've only used it at home a few times but you can ask me questions if you'd like", he then said with a smirk on his face, "if you want to answer the WPF portion, and you get it wrong then you look bad, but if you get it right then you look good, so what do you want to do?", I said, "I think this is up to you as an interviewer -- I've told you where I stand"

There was a lot of that ... like based on THEIR questions -- I don't know shit ... but they're not quizzing my experience at all.

  • doesn’t really imply anything except something about the json being turned into a string

yeah that's basically it, I know you're leaning into your existing knowledge (of likely C-based stuff) but your line of thinking is about right about how you're inferring things ... naming and stuff gets a bit "different" or less serious when you go into JS land sometimes.

What's funny is if this were a real job interview question and you answered in the way that you did ... the way you answered it told me more about yourself and your qualifications than just getting it exactly right

  • When imposter syndrome meets an actual imposter!

  • I refuse to believe you couldn't infer what this is, you're way too smart and you could definitely just guess.

  • Could be used for stop him from reproducing.

  • I used to just have him on the background talking to the camera when he was fixing a laptop. Then would listen to his random takes on stuff and then his political activism.

As much as I agree with him, I am just raged out. I can't do John Oliver, I can't do so many left-leaning ones because they clip right-wingers and I don't want to hear about how everything's getting worse ...

  • Let me tell you something about LOTR and Vigga Mortensen and the kicking of a helmet ....

  • I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I seriously sometimes don't have the "COPY" part execute sometimes ... I've tried to do only one copy a few times and I'm like "wait, why didn't it copy"?

  • it just seems odd to me that the government tried to stop it and we're saying that they were secretly supporting it, but okay

sounds like China's government can be incompetent to me

to be clear, doesn't mean I'm overlooking all the other things they do, there's a lot of bad shit and I don't think China even sees a need for democracy to be clear ... I think that's self-evident.

  • Chinese Gangs for years operated Pig Butchering scams against the west.

is the really the Chinese government doing that? doesn't every country have some sort of scammers running inside of it?

  • Libertarians in shambles.

  • lol ... yeah the first three were pure action to me ... I mean, unless you count putting that woman to hold the wheel to keep the gate open which then kills her a puzzle too ....

But also: Why does Odin sound like he’s from New York?

lol I mean there's no arguing that, but I fucking love that actor ... but I definitely can't counter what you said 🤣

  • "please install our app to continue"

  • The puzzles are like some of the worst shit in GoW to me. However, everyone says you can't remove it because it's SO apart of the game. I just really enjoyed their take on Nordic mythology.
