Linkin Park + Shitty last name + I think the number was random 20+ years ago

he/they/ace/bi/idk

  • Just did much the same with Farmers (was with them for 10 years). Last accident was around 2018, not at fault. Went from a '14 Prius to '24 Ioniq 5, and my premium went from ~$1300 to ~$2500, the excuse being "EVs are more expensive to repair". Which I get, the batteries are pretty expensive. But that's an insane increase. I switched to Progressive for both auto and home, and they got my premiums down to ~$1100 and ~$1600 respectively (home was just shy of $2k). We'll see if the decision was worthwhile.

  • Was taking a short road trip this past weekend, and got a chance to pass two; one decked out in a horrible purple camo pattern... You can bet right that the bird was flipped at both (as well as many, many other Teslas).

  • I think i made it on? The lack of a number trips me up.

  • Oh neat! Can't say I've heard of it, and for a while there I was very much leaning towards Mint, until they were bought by Tmo. Ryan should have fought for it, Deadpool style 😆

Really liking what I'm seeing. I'd def rather spend $70/mo than the ~$110 I am now. I personally just can't justify it for how little I use my phone, literally Lemmy, Newpipe and Fennec, with a side of fin account apps.

  • We have been grandfathered into a Simple Choice Plan for ~13 years and just switched over to whatever their comparable current plan is, and only saved $10 (woohoo). What'd you go with? I was looking into prepaid with Tmo but they've been in quite the steady decline for a while now.

  • Ooh that's beautiful. We just got a "higher end" touting solid wood, and it ended up being hollow MDF, so I'm not all that happy about it. I've always wanted to attempt a personal build, and yours scratched my brain nicely. Thanks!

  • That's a cool tree Koda is on, custom?

  • This is not the Batman I was expecting.

  • I spent too much time trying to get a configuration in which I could fit both the MiniPC and Router/Modem in the cabinet. This fixture came with the house, so I'm not complaining. I think I should swap out the surge protector (not even sure if it is one lol) for something more streamlined. And as for the mounted switch? That's $2 velcro strips at Walmart :P

  • Yeah I think I have a before picture on here somewhere. It was less messy, but I'm not quite ready for a rackmount or other system. I'm not even sure I need to jump to that level lol. Unless you're talking about the 2nd pic, oh it can get messy. I cleaned up a bit so it wasn't too gnarly. Shoulda changed my background too, I usually go for greenery or abstracts.

  • Nothing fancy myself as well. Not unemployed but I don't necessarily wanna spend a lot on something I'm really just cutting my teeth with so far.

The central hub is up top, a Bosgame P4 Mini with 16GB DDR4, 512GB NVMe and a decent last-last gen Ryzen 7. It's enough to run Jellyfin, HA, and PiHole all through Proxmox. Been rock solid outside of a planned power outage Peco was doing (and actually did it this time!)

I also have Jellyfin connected to an 8TB RAID1 NAS that resides upstairs in our shared space, and HA connected to the basement tech, mostly lighting and the TV and PC.

Bonus battlestation pic (not really lol)

  • Something I inherited from my dad, but I do your standard dollop or two of mayo, can of chunk light in water, drained of course, and one of those little single serving boxes of raisins. Sounds weird but it's delicious. Either eat with half a sleeve of saltines or throw it on some half decent multigrain.

  • TADC is real now? Caine vs Claude, fight!

  • I think this is what our one cat, Wolfgang, had a couple months back. We found he couldn't pee one morning, and took him the emergency vet as well. Found the crystals, and our main vet recommend we do surgery (the 7k one above). In out case, we joke that Wolfie is our first trans cat, as the surgery basically reroutes the male urethra to be more female . Squiggly line to straight line, more or less. We also had to put him on a special pH balanced dry food diet, and he seemed to get accustomed pretty quickly although he still begs for food when our other cat Phil gets fed (literally a half hour apart).

It wasn't easy to pay the bill, as that's a tough cookie to swallow. Household of 3 adults, and we made it work.

I hope your little one passes any stones/crystals easily going forward!

  • While I feel we all go through loss of a loved one, pet or otherwise, it never gets easy. I lost two last year, one to cancer, who was also a void baby. I know Zee will get the care & love they deserve in those final moments, and they pitter-patter over the rainbow bridge carrying that with them. 🫶 🌈

  • I've watched so many streamers play it that idk if I'd wanna play it myself, but that I didn't know! I love how much love they put into the game as a whole. Never fails to get me a bunch of hearty laughs...

  • I've been using Fennec and it's been pretty solid as a Firefox replacement. Librewolf on my home PC and Vivaldi on the work machine.

  • I just did this myself in Monday. Loaded Bacon Mac with cubed kielbasa.
