  • Does she have any curiosity? I have a friend who grew up on a farm and had parents who didn’t value education. When i met her she didn’t seem to know a lot of things most adults do. She’s 40 now with 2 degrees (she started university when she was 30). some ignorant people seem dumb, but sometimes it’s just a reflection of their opportunities. if she has no curiosity, though, she might be dumb.

    To be clear: X is the political opponent of anyone who values democracy. As such, it can be fairly said that this IS an attempt to censor my opponents' ... child pornography. I do not object to 'censoring' CSAM. Tim Sweeney thinks child porn is free speech (pcgamer - contact me for rights to this far superior headline). When X was just vile hate speech, propaganda, and misinformation, the free speech argument prevailed. This is not the same.

    US math scores have hit a low point in history, and calculators are partially to blame. Calculators are good to use if you already have an excellent understanding of the operations. If you start learning math with a calculator in your hand, though, you may be prevented from developing a good understanding of numbers. There are 'shortcut' methods for basic operations that are obvious if you are good with numbers. When I used to teach math, I had students who couldn't tell me what 9 * 25 is without a calculator. They never developed the intuition that 10 * 25 is dead easy to find in your head, and that 9 * 25 = (10-1) * 25 = 250-25.

    I believe in fairness, compassion, honesty, integrity, and the value of education. I believe in helping people who need help. I believe in a government that doesn’t intrude where it doesn’t belong - notably in the bedrooms of consenting adults. I believe in protecting free speech - that is to say, speech critical of the government. I believe that rich people should pay taxes. I believe that the sexual abuse of minors is a terrible crime meriting harsh punishment - especially when the perpetrator uses his power and privilege to access victims and avoid consequences; this would most certainly include ANY president, past or present.

    Does it make you proud to find these beliefs abhorrent?
