  • i'm not so sure on the privacy of any of this.

  • offtopic but related: android privacy settings are scattered across many hidden menus.

  • it's a fantastic metasearch engine. but also people frequently dont configure it to its max potential IMO . one common mishap is the frequent default setting of sending queries to google. 💩

  • thanks for the tip. the number would seem to sit at 40% dominance by urban landlords.i would think that the housing market, affects the rental market. but not always. apart from homebuyers that get priced out and have to re-enter the rental market.

  • #notanexpert . but to argue my case:in some housing markets: "Top 5 companies control 70% of the market: The top 5 real estate companies in the <city's> market, including Ebby Halliday, Keller Williams, RE/MAX, Coldwell Banker, and Century 21, control approximately 70% of the market share"

  • from a privacy perspective..you might as well use a vpn or tor. same thing.

  • perplexity is not that great

  • searX still uses the same search engines.

  • capitalism is not very competive and therefore, price-fixing between small group of large players, is almost inevitable outcome.

  • mastodon allows you to post ONLY to the current instance. (not to public and not customizable.)

  • true, true

  • why do so many people think that what they see with their eyes must be the truth

  • thats a very important point. thank you for making that clear.i think this is where mastodon has an advantage.also hosting on vps does not come with a guarentee for privacy. especially in US

  • fake activism button

  • dopamine button

  • if u want privacy then join diaspora and use aspects. better yet: host an instance.

  • im just overwhelmed by the endless flood of minor services that leach "a dollar here.. a dollar there". add them all up and they drain you dry.skip some and you lose essential coverage. "just $2 more a month.. i swear bro! "
