  • I've said from the beginning that one way or another he'd be out right after the midterms (so Vance could have 2 full terms after taking over this one), but maybe il Douche isn't gonna be able to make it that long. The main thing Vance et. al. have to make sure of is that everything happens in a way that the base will accept as legit and won't interpret as a coup or conspiracy against Daddy.

  • The fact that they made it so the Medicaid cuts and extra requirements don't take effect until after the 2026 election tells you everything you need to know about the harm they will do and what the reaction will be.

  • Mississippi health officials declared a public health emergency last week in response to the state’s rising infant mortality rate.

Doctor Dan Edney said the best way to reduce infant mortality is by improving maternal health. “That means better access to prenatal and postpartum care, stronger community support and more resources for moms and babies,” Edney wrote.

    Mississippi: "Not like that."

  • Gettin' his personal army of brownshirts all legitimized and stuff so they can mow down any protesters and disappear any 'troublemakers'.

  • Obvious Russian agitprop, you can immediately tell by how they put Ukraine as dog poop and by all the replies to it from Russians laughing specifically at that part, but the other stuff is obvious as well.

  • Physically possessing the music that you bought, having the actual vinyl records (or later, CDs and DVDs of shows). That you don't have to keep renewing subscriptions for to continue being able to listen to (or watch), that you can lend out or pass down to your kids or sell to a used record store, where you can buy the ones someone else sold to them. Those were the days.

  • Ironically there was an episode where Dr. Crusher did fall in love with a ghost. Of course it turned out to be a disembodied alien, but still.

  • OT but I just found interesting:

    1st pic: Aidan = AI Dan, I guess that's a clever name.

2nd pic: his hand melds into her hand or phases through her wrist. She calls him Thad but suspiciously he sure looks a lot like Aidan. Is ChatGPT perhaps CheatGPT? Just asking.

  • You don't usually see major news outlets like Newsweek covering protests being planned ahead of time instead of downplaying and barely mentioning that some protests happened after the fact. AND listing specific demands instead of vaguely just saying "anti-trump protests". That's an improvement, at least. Keep it going! Getting more media attention in an environment where most media has been cowed and terrified to criticize trump is moving in a positive direction. If you've been thinking about showing up, this is a good one to turn out for.

  • I don't think I'd read it, but just looked it up and did. Or maybe I read it before and forgot--I've certainly heard that concept enough times, and many variations on it. The ultimate ego trip!

  • That's my view too. even if reincarnation existed, it wouldn't matter. If each life has no memory of the others, then each life is effectively a different person altogether, so from the POV of any one of those people, there is effectively no such thing as reincarnation.

Now suppose there's some kind of 'soul' who the lives 'belong to' and will one day remember the lives, again -- so what? They're just memories. Those lives were each a separate person who no longer exists, and never knew the others or the soul.

  • No.

If this is what we've come to where you have to be a popular TV star to win, then somebody get AOC her own TV show ASAP.

  • They can both be from the same state and electors from all the other states except their own can vote for both of them if they win that state (Potus and VP are actually voted on as separate votes). BUT electors from their own state could only cast their votes for one of them!

    Per the 12th Amendment:

The Electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves

Just another stupid thing about the Electoral College system. Say for example Newsom ran for POTUS and his VP pick was also from California. California electors could only cast their votes for one of them (obviously they'd choose to apply them to the POTUS seat. So the VP might lose to the VP of other party! So stupid. When Bush picked Cheney, Cheney was a resident of Texas and moved to Wyoming so Texas electors would be able cast their votes for him.

  • It eats at him that Obama got one. He can't stand it.

  • Let me see ... a big thing ... Oh! How about dropping (can I say it)?

  • But you see, he is deploying troops to the most dangerous cites--the most dangerous to him and his regime, that is. No need to take control of cities that are on his side.

  • Work release? Let me guess, HR?

  • There should be a photo of the buffalo posing with his body, like all those pics of him posing with his kills.
