  • Not any more!

  • Of course, the only people who have to make sacrifices for national, economic, and energy security are poor people

  • I like it. We need more specialization of services and less centralization. If Codeberg is the "human-made FOSS forge" then that means something when you see a project on it. If that's not your project, fine, there is plenty of competition (and Forgejo is open source just run it yourself).

Would be cool to see someone make a "vibehub" and then you know when you see a link to a project on there what you're getting (depending on your opinion, good or bad)

  • GitHub is a business making a profit from git hosting for corporations.

Codeberg is a non-profit explicitly for hosting free software projects (FOSS).

What is Codeberg? On Codeberg you can develop your own Free Software projects, contribute to other projects, browse through inspiring and useful free software, share your knowledge or build your projects a home on the web using Codeberg Pages, just to name a few.

I don't think they're delusional enough to think their mission is to singlehandedly kill proprietary software.

  • Would you be okay with a coding model that was trained only on open source software?

Would be definitely interesting to see a coding model trained only on GPL code, where that also made all of the output also automatically GPL licensed.

  • Can you link me to the settled law?

  • So this ship is obviously just an experiment in greenwashing, it sounds like the panels basically just keep the lights on.

But if the 10,800 cars were all EVs equipped with V2L and you had them powering the ship, how far could their batteries at 100% propel the ship?

10,800 * 80 kWh = 864,000 kWh. Another post said the engine output is 15,000 kW, so it could go full steam for 864,000/15,000 = 57.6 hours? Although I guess using an electric rather than fossil engine will be a lot more efficient (2x? 3x?) Still, the energy density of oil is amazing...

  • If broken slop apps crowd out the good, actually usable apps so the App Store just becomes a cesspool of useless garbage, they make no money as people wil abandon trying to find a tool for their problem.

  • Have you considered financing a Tesla????

  • Sadly, their car sales are back up in Europe since unfortunately nobody has morals anymore. The real answer is "blowing your money on the next grift - AI and robotics"

  • If your neighbor has an EV and you don't, suddenly you've decided that you're poor

  • As always, people have short memories, or just do not give a shit about ethics

    https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/26/business/tesla-elon-musk-europe.html

Tesla’s vehicle sales rose 77 percent from January through May compared with a year earlier, the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association said this week. In May, Tesla sold 22,000 cars in Europe. That’s more than Ford, Nissan or Honda, even when including their fossil-fuel models.

Many people seem to have put aside their personal feelings about Mr. Musk after Tesla cut prices for its entry-level models to levels that are competitive with comparable gasoline or diesel vehicles and inexpensive cars from China. In some countries, Tesla’s Model Y sport utility vehicles can be leased for less than 300 euros, or about $340, a month.

“Once you go down the pricing scale, people pay less attention to ethics or morality,” said Matthias Schmidt, an independent analyst in Berlin who tracks electric vehicles sales. “Tesla’s product has become so appealing from a price perspective, it’s almost too good to refuse.”

  • As long as you still have tens of millions of people pre-ordering GTA6, nothing is going to change. People bitch and whine but they keep eating the slop.

  • They just added ads to their Maps app, I am 100% expecting them to add ads to AppleTV

  • FWIW to anyone reading this and shopping for hardware, the card I'm using is an Intel 82599ES.

But I've had the same issues on a TrueNAS machine with a Mellanox ConnectX-3. I assume the limited speed was just due to the hardware, but after upgrading from TrueNAS CORE to TrueNAS SCALE, suddenly I was getting full 10 Gbit throughput.

  • When I got 10 Gbit internet at home I didn't like the prices of any of the 10G routers for sale so I built my own out of a $80 used ThinkCentre Tiny, $7 PCIe riser, and $20 dual-10G Intel NIC. My APs are the Ubiquiti UniFi APs I was already using (The router I switched from was a Ubiquiti USG3)

Initially I tried opnSense (and pfSense) but no matter what I did I couldn't get 10G throughput, so I switched to OpenWRT which has been working great. I feel like the Linux kernel will have better support than FreeBSD since it has a bigger user base.

For a 1G/2.5G network you can probably get a way with even cheaper hardware.

  • Selfhosted @lemmy.world

Horsepower required for 10 Gbit router?
