  • Thanks, that's good to know. I wanna get back into photography since the mirrorlesses are so compact now, but being able to keep my lenses was one thing I needed to know about before selling my old DSLR.

  • Ah, of course! The battery life makes total sense. I'll have to research what phase detect autofocus means, but thanks for answering.

  • I've always wondered why people were so adamant about SLRs even in the digital age. Before mirrorless cameras came out, DSLRs were the only digital option with swappable lenses but I've stopped keeping track. Mirrorless cameras have swappable lenses too right? I'm assuming many of them can attach the same ones used with DSLRs.

  • A bomb-over

  • Probably not, considering so many people who grew up in a AI-slop free world don't give give a fuck as it is. Some people just don't mind slop. AI or otherwise.

  • At the very least, they know how to use Canva but man, but from what I remember from two minutes of using it, that shit was really barebones. Aren't they kinda AI-first now too?

  • I didn't specifically make my kids hate AI, but my hate for it rubbed off on them (they're 12 and 10) and they always call out slop — to a point that it gets kinda annoying, actually, lol. Like, we get it little dudes, the world sucks, but you don't have to keep reminding me.

  • Does her face remind anyone else of PirateSoftware?

  • Ugh, I hate these. It makes me think: you cut corners on your flyer, something everyone sees, so what kinda corners do you cut where it's hidden from your clients??

Edit: Gross, this showed up on my news feed. A marathon event in Japan got caught using AI for their poster. They said "was made by an illustrator," but later apologized saying it should have said, "made by a graphic designer." Is this what graphic designers do now? I went to school for that and freelanced about 20 years ago, but I drew my own shit or manipulated actual photos and videos that my clients gave me.

  • I think we say, "don't hold your breath," in English.

  • Whoa wtf heathen.

  • Splatoon: Origins leaked before new Nintendo Direct.

  • Thank you so much. I don't really trust Bitwarden's new CEOs and minor changes to its culture so I think I'll go with Keepass and set it up on my NextCloud server.

  • Do pent up urges work?

  • I'm satisfied but I think my bar is really low.

I hardly talk to any of them but if they ever messaged me out of the blue for help, I'd be there for them and I'd like to think they'd lend me a hand if things got really bad, too. That's all I could ask of them. I have one I see once every few months for a beer. We talk about games and general frustrations with life. He's an American living in Japan and I'm Canadian, but we seem to align politically so we don't need to tip-toe around that, which is nice.

What kinda friends are you looking for?? What needs weren't met when you say your peers disappointed you? Did they actively hurt you (emotionally or otherwise)?

If other guys are like me, they don't want or particularly feel the need to express their feelings because they already have a particular set of people who they feel comfortable being vulnerable in front of, so they can't reciprocate even if you want to open up.

  • I didn't do anything to get a payback. They did it unto themselves and I'm just watching.

  • Explaining would require the other side to be smart enough to understand. And we all know this isn't possible.

  • Neither is voting for trump so I think the universe is even now.

  • I like the word inconsistent. It's been over a decade since I stopped using macs — so I don't remember exactly what it was that bothered me — but one of the biggest reasons why I stopped using macs was the inconsistency. Within the OS, between apps, between iOS and macos, etc...
