  • I'm not disagreeing with you, just wanted to mention that this is not necessary their fault. i got super mad when they cancelled a series i was watching more through. turned out that the owner of the show (i think Paramount) just cancelled all contracts to stream it exclusively on their platform.

  • TIL, thanks

  • from what you wrote, i would guess bash is first checking through aliases. anyway that's something to better read up before trying on a non-test system

  • trash is a nice idea, but i guess it's hard to overcome the muscle memory, i might need to rename rm for it ;)

btw: does somebody else pronounces awk as awkward?

  • or openscad, if you are more into code

  • if not for the forced installation of the official client, it would really be neat. with a telegram bridge i also have good experience, only a single hiccup, years ago.

  • vanilla doesn't mean plain, it means more someone like: original, unaltered

  • sounds correct. before this "meme", i didn't know that they made another one.

  • i don't think it's meant as counter example and more as a comparable story in the meaning of "the symptoms predicted it years ago".

  • i have Whatsapp in a frozen shelter to starts it every two weeks.

recently i was thinking to have a second home server just for bridges, you should be able to use it federated. but didn't try it yet.

main point for me was the sheer amount of ghost users.

  • one Location for dozen of rss feeds instead of looking up each individual. alternative is of course setting up the feeds on the client computer, but that works only nice if you use it only from one device (e.g. read history sync).

furthermore i prefer to have such set ups on a server with backups, so if e.g. my phone gets lost i don't need to find back all those urls.

  • back in my day it was kinda easy to find interesting content

  • the last point are just the current status. there are various approaches to solve those issues, which could be explored more.

one examples that comes to mind is ethanol from algae, which live in salty water. i remember seeing a documentary about it, staying that you could just place them in big tanks in the desert. there they wouldn't compete with food for land.

I'm not saying that this example solves everything, just that there could definitely be more research.

  • when i wrote that i was thinking about a particular study, which was finding a correlation between food supply/shortages and onset of voice break. but for the love of God, i can't find it now. so possible that i just hallucinated it ;)

  • they are DRM free(d)

  • the original "schönste" could be either translated to most beautiful or nicest (looking nicest [most nice?!]). but in the context of the time the modern "hottest" wouldn't be to far fetched.

anyway, nowadays teens mature faster. so a 14 yo at that time could easily look like a 12 yo nowadays. but the sensitivities at the time were vastly different. good that we didn't life then.

  • I'm using matrix for years with my wife and my mom, never really had issues, but maybe my requirements are not that high.
