I've worked too many places where "b" is absolutely the answer. Even small companies that you've probably never heard of where management is drinking the koolaid. They usually don't like being asked why someone would actually pay for whatever bullshit they're selling.

Large commercial HVAC package units often have an option called an "economizer". It's just one or more dampers that allow the unit to exchange inside air with outside air. A typical use case is when the unit gets a call from the thermostat for AC and outside air temp is lower than the room temp.
It's more for heating and cooling efficiency than air quality. Its also very rare for homes to have this kind of setup due the added cost and the fact that, at least in the US, package units are much rarer in residential installs. Fresh air circulation systems are a custom job which means $$$.

Pretty typical behavior from the higher ups. We go through this every hype cycle. Someone develops an air nailer, while we've been using hammers, and now everything needs to be fastened with a nail. Even though a nail is often not the correct fastener.
We went through the same thing with "the cloud". I remember how every company was going to gleefully dismantle their data center and all the system admins were going to be unemployed. At least if you listened the talking heads and salespeople. Neither of those actually happened. But "the cloud" certainly changed things. If nothing else, it brought enterprise grade IT solutions to orgs that don't have the capital to build and maintain data centers.
I get really skeptical whenever someone starts claiming a particular tech solution is a silver bullet. And LLM's are no silver bullet. But they're not going away either, whether the naysayers like it or not.

I work for a company you've never heard of that just laid off ~13% of their workforce. Not a tech firm. Not even a business that has frequent layoffs. The recession was probably the last time this happened. Later the same day, I wander off to a conference room where I find one my colleagues. I asked him how he was doing and he said, "the thing that bugs me the most is that a whole bunch of people just got fired and we're supposed to keep going like nothing happened."
I felt that. Something big happened. Layoffs like that basically destroy any trust that employees have in the organization. Not only do a bunch of people lose their jobs, they're often abruptly thrown out of the building.
The ones who are left are left to wonder if they'll be next.
