  • source: am alcoholic

  • I'd argue that acting on those urges in any way would just encourage further action on those urges. There's a reason alcoholics don't drink zero-alcohol beers.

  • Oh hell yeah, I loved that book. Now I just ordered Diamond Age! yeehaw new book day!

  • would open up anything and everything the authorities dislike to being forbidden.

    No it wouldn't.

  • I think a law saying no AI generated CSAM, whether or not the child depicted is real, isn't an overreach into our fucking freedoms.

  • Any legal framework targeting pedophiles... will be... used against me

I think I understand why you're fighting so hard here in the comments

  • Arguing for the legal production of CSAM is fucked up, even if it's by an AI.

    Also the article specifically states:

AI-generated CSAM may also present other challenges not raised by the government in this appeal. For example, researchers have found that "a major dataset used for training image-generating AI contained hundreds of CSAM images." Thus, unlike the virtual CSAM at issue in Free Speech Coalition, the market for AI-generated virtual CSAM images may impact the demand for actual CSAM on which the AI models can train.

You're wrong. We absolutely can draw the line here. And yes, it does harm children. allowing people to create, possess, and distribute CSAM, even if it's AI-generated, will influence peoples willingness to act on their urges in real life, with real children. It's not a stretch to consider that linkage. What you're arguing for is shameful and disgusting.

  • from the article:

  • You're wrong. Literally from the article

  • 1986 Hanford Site, Washington, US Release of nuclear materials The U.S. government declassified 19,000 pages of documents indicating that between 1946 and 1986, the Hanford Site near Richland, Washington, released thousands of US gallons of radioactive liquids. Many of the people living in the affected area received low doses of radiation from 131I.

Yes, I'm generally in favor of Nuclear energy but also this one 😬

  • Hilarious, because we all know it's just going to be the orange pedophile again.

  • yessss, JTHM! That shit was so cool to me

Also I introduced my friend group to Donnie Darko and American History X and it gave me remarkable street cred lol All of a sudden I was "the movie guy"

  • Attorneys said lawmakers could use Kennedy’s statements as grounds for hearings, an impeachment inquiry or creating other obstacles for him. But such action is unlikely under the current Republican-led Congress

HHS did not make Kennedy available for an interview. The White House did not respond to a request for comment. The Samoan prime minister’s office and the former prime minister who corresponded with Kennedy did not respond to requests for comment.

If they just ignore it and ignore you than they can get away with breaking the law.

It's almost like they're above the law?

  • Cassidy said he voted to confirm Kennedy because he received commitments that Kennedy would not change certain vaccine policies and guidance. For example, Cassidy said when announcing his vote, Kennedy pledged to maintain a federal vaccine advisory committee “without changes.” Once in office, Kennedy ousted all 17 members of the committee and named his own advisers.

Real Leopards Ate My Face material right there

Kennedy’s Samoa visit has become one of the most contentious events in his career. At the time, he was leading a nonprofit known for its anti-vaccine activism. Critics said the visit fueled anti-vaccine sentiment in Samoa, which later experienced the measles outbreak that killed 83 people, mostly children under 5.

And his drug-induced paranoia lead to a growing climate of anti-vax sentiment which resulted in the death of 83 people.
