  • A lot of the technology inside a phone is still dependent on US patents and/or manufactured parts. It may seem like one country makes this or that, but that's not actually how it works. If you look online you'll see the lowest number is around 40 countries for an iPhone.

  • Anyone got another source?

  • He wasn't slow on lowering interest rates, he was slow to raise them. Back under Biden they should have raised rates faster to offset the rising inflation.

However, under Trump there isn't any evidence yet that rates should be lower. In fact the Fed board has been split on raise/lower/hold rates, due to persistent inflation (due to tariffs and crazy economic policy) and a slowing economy (due to tarrifs and crazy economic policy). Basically, with an admin dead set on ruining the economy, doing anything with the rates seems likely to just accelerate things from bad to worse.

  • That's an issue you can run into with many classics. Either they did something so well it's become a trope, or the artistry in it has been refined so much that the original feels like a poor imitation.

A great example in film is Citizen Cane. It used a lot of ground breaking approaches for cinematography and sound design, but those things aren't ground breaking anymore, so watching it now doesn't have the same "excitement". A more modern example might be Toy Story; the animation doesn't look too impressive by modern standards, but was ground breaking at the time.

  • More like "dodge" at that point

  • Life is Beautiful is one of my favorites that should really only be watched with subtitles. It's a really sad movie, but sticks with you in a good way.

  • They made a musical of it a while back. It didn't do very well on Broadway, but it had some good songs in my opinion.

  • Yeah, if I'm making something "masked/obscured" I should export it so that it's in a raw format. That way there is no Metadata or information that could be leaked by accident.

Think of the Trump Epstein files, in those they kept them as pdfs so you could just unhighlight the redacted sections. If they had export it as a jpeg/png you wouldn't be able to extract any information.

There are ways to remove the content from a pdf, but as we've seen, that leaves rooms for errors.

  • If the image/video just has black pixels on the content, then there would be no information to extract and any attempt would just be filling things in.

When you talk about layers, you're assuming that the creator left information behind in the Metadata, which wouldn't require AI to extract.

  • Not just the students, but clearly the university itself. I just hope more people use these incidents to inform their decisions about where to go to school. Once you let personal opinions and religion get in the way of the pursuit of knowledge, then you might as well not bother being a school anymore.

  • I mean none of this is new. People just didn't care, they literally released a tape where he admitted to forcing himself on women during his 2016 campaign.

  • I mean, you're just replacing one archaic symbol with another.

  • Cause the issue isn't how people are represented, but that money means more representation. Doesn't matter if it was straight democracy or democratic republic, it ain't really either if people with money get more representation.

  • I had someone swear to me that Github templating was better, but I've only worked with Gitlabs templates. Why do you like Gitlab over Github?

  • Once you get into non-standard investments (so not stocks/etfs/CDs/etc.) things get a lot murkier a lot quicker. At some point you are just trusting some person with a lot of money. I mean look at Bernie Maddoff, he was just some guy promising a return on investments.

  • Yeah, I think this one falls squarely on the guy literally eating pounds of fiber.

  • I mean, there is definitely something wrong with Trump, he's almost 80.

I guess you could argue that what's wrong with him doesn't affect his ability to lead, but personally he hasn't been mentally fit to lead for a long time now.
