    I do not follow the political clown show's dichotomy. I know Sabine Hossenfelder has shown emails from people at Fermi lab indicating otherwise after they complained about her outing junk science.

    I basically only watch people with advanced degrees making edutainment type content. So I don't know the wider scope.

    Edit: I changed it to "US" in the title. I am probably going to delete the whole thing though. I despise downvoting children. They deserve their idiotic echo chambers.

  • I have experienced this. It is not a hypothetical. I was physically disabled while riding a bicycle to work. I had my business tanked by these shits. I had my commercial driver's licence ruined. I've been all but killed by this issue. There is far more nuance here. Don't be an ass.

  • Social stigma causes the damage. None of that is valid or real from a high level abstractive perspective, but gaining such a perspective is a product of middle age. Most social stigma is born from ignorance, backwardness, and dogma. These are also protection mechanisms inherent to youth.

    A bit of unsolicited advice, child services is no one's friend. The agents are paid on commission. The system is not balanced or fair. If you have custody, you can push to settle and set amounts lower. If you do not stay involved or become indifferent towards the child's father, child services will likely destroy his life. The suicide rate is not well tracked but is generally known to be much higher. The entire system is built around a bygone era when anyone could simply show up and get a well paid factory job with a sufficient income to own a home and live a life as a primary breadwinner with a stay at home partner. No one alive today without inherited wealth can earn an income to survive with a 30%-40% margin removed. At a young age, such an extreme expense prevents a person from ever getting established on a solid career path. It cuts off many potential career paths that lack stability. Becoming unemployed will ruin a person dealing with child services. Most of the best paying jobs are unstable. Child Services is incentivised to exploit this in a way that ruins lives. You may have the power to change this if you care and can see the big picture.

  • Just take pictures. I use FreeCAD. You just add the picture to whatever plane. I usually put a small precision ruler in the image. Then there is a scaling tool. You pick two points in the imported image and it scales the size of the image so that you can easily create sketches that follow the contours.

    Don't print big stuff blind. Copy your designed part, then do a couple quick slices so that you only print a tiny unit test to check the fit of critical areas.

    Having a set of printed radius gauges helps to measure. GL

  • My main account got banned from something like 8 because one admin person went nuts. I went through my log and was like, WTF, I never even commented there.

    I got two temporary bans from people that had no credible logic skills or objective thinking. One of those was a Lemmy dev. And that is why I'm on piefed now.

    There are some crazies, but I think we all need to normalize just being nice digital neighbors. Life is too short and negative. If you don't like something, just ignore it. Don't engage or escalate or down vote. None of us are that important, and being negative makes things worse for all, including, if not especially yourself.

  • Still depends on the relationship, person, and intent. I can't speak for others. I may react initially negatively, but I am open to coercion.

    Crime is really about intent more than any other factor. Manipulation and coercion can be done with positive and negative intent. If a person manipulates me at a clever level with the best of intentions, I have no problem with it, but again, I only speak for myself.

  • The other post reply here came close enough. With the suggestion to use: tree --fromfile -a with grep. I'm still not fast enough with emacs to do stuff like this efficiently. I get lost in the documentation and do not use emacs daily.

They have full equivalent access because you do not understand the details. Again these are full equivalent users. They are likely intimately preset with you more than any other partner... If they are there for stalkerware digital slavery, to sell your digital person for exploitation and manipulation, such a transaction is much like prostitution. The motivations of developers that are not whoring people out are mostly benevolent, altruistic, or taking a stand to support liberal democratic freedom. So in essence google is a digital slaver running a loose coalition of independent developer pimps that collectively enslave your digital person for manipulation and exploitation.

    Apple: is a central fascist neo feudal lord that centralizes the exploitation and slavery under a single market forum where they directly manipulate and extort every developer and slave. Apple is the stalkerware data salver selling the exact same data to manipulate and extort users just like google.

    The difference has been an open market free for all of privateer piracy raiding the coast of Africa to fuel the Southern plantations and flying the Jolly Roger of google, versus the matrix growing humans in a vast vat field with the Jolly Roger of Apple on the side of the buildings. To call one different than the other in terms of privacy is a joke as sour as US politics represents a balanced spectrum of interests. It is all stalkerware data slavery ownership of a part of an individual's physical person for exploitation and manipulation. Open Source software is the last bastion fortress of real citizens in a democracy fighting off zombie pirates flying a Jolly Roger. This is a choice between Apple vanishing people and Google abducting them from the fortress.

    ROMs are the red pill, a revolver, and a place to stay for fightimg for freedom from the 21st century digital slavery phase of neo fascism, and its coming total war 3.
