Failing optimist, can code poorly.🇵🇸 Saoirse don Phalastín! 🇵🇸Previously @irelephant@lemm.ee.

  • All of instagram and threads.Only parts of facebook are written in python because its really fucked up.

  • I honestly doubt that, It has no relevance -- at all. I see screenshots of bluesky posts everywhere, but rarely see threads posts.

  • Its a bit charitable to call threads a monopoly since no one uses it.

  • Tumblr also downsized to 25 employees (including T&S). I don't expect anything groudbreaking from them soon.

  • I'm surprised they're still interested in ActivityPub.

Hot Take: This is good because its easier for people to leave threads, since they can still contact their friends on threads. I do think having most instances block them is also good, so people can have a choice (I personally don't want threads).

  • Glitch-Soc is still around?

  • does mastodon's search even work? Unless a post has a hashtag its near-unindexable.

  • The search doesn't even work on my instance.Lemmy is the only fediverse software with a good search imo.

  • I've heard of snac, but never knew about the database thing. What does it use? static files?

  • Misskey (I use sharkey, a fork of it) is really good. Groups don't federate yet iirc.

Its frontend is extremely slow though.

  • On most fediverse softwares its near-impossible to start federating on the same domain without the same keys it had before. Lemmy is the exception.

this explains why most of the images from quokk are broken anyway.

  • I have an analog alarm, and when ever I hear an old fashioned phone ringing I get a rush of adrenaline and a feeling of existensial dread.

  • I just took another look at it,

Comparing it to another random note, the to and cc fields are supposed to be arrays, rather than just a string.

Its also missing a url field, which is supposed to link to the user-facing url of the post.

  • There is some features that are needed, like the dismal state of mod tools, and moving communities to other servers.

  • They're not breaking things, they just have development that doesn't move at the speed of molasses.

  • I doubt it would get shutdown, all the communities there would have to shut down.

  • So, are all the posts and stuff on your instance gone?

Were you able to migrate the DB?

  • join.piefed.social has a list somewhere.
