Failing optimist, can code poorly.🇵🇸 Saoirse don Phalastín! 🇵🇸Previously @irelephant@lemm.ee.

  • That is horribly centralised, but its not (imo) an essential part of the network. They do intent to fix it at some point.

  • I don't mean this in an agressive way, but did you really think I haven't read that?

  • It should, yes.

  • I use reddit, but barely. Mostly for irish subreddits, the severance subreddit and r/guineapigs. And shilling lemmy of course ; )

  • I asked in the wafrn discord, they said it was for privacy. fwiw, they don't show remote fediverse profiles either

  • Its censorship no matter what, but it doesn't prove bluesky is centralised.

  • It is, but the fork could get rid of the login-wall.

All data on Atproto has to be public for it to work.

  • That's a good question, as of now, its not possible without self hosting something.

deer.social is an alt-app, but it uses bsky's relay iirc.

  • For wafrn? Yes. I don't actually know their reasoning for it.

  • I do think neopronouns can be confusing, but it takes literally no effort to use it.If you really must not use it you can just use singular they, or the person's name.

  • Both are social constructs. For example: the mammals class of animals is a social construct, While mammals would still have characteristics like being warm blooded, or not laying eggs, the classification wouldn't exist if people didn't invent it.Its also not a perfect classification, platypuses lay eggs but are still classified as mammals.

Sex is the same, its people who have certain hormones, certain chromosomes or certain genetailia, but there can be people who don't have the "Proper" chromosome / hormone for their sex, but they still are classified as male/female.

I think its important to look at what purpose a social construct serves, Mammals are a social construct, but they still serve a useful purpose (not saying sex/gender serves / doesn't serve a useful purpose).

  • I see it like colours, there is an infinite amount of colours, but it makes sense to have a name for the common ones.

  • I rarely even come across them.Lord forbid there is comics in the comics community.

  • The pizzacake haters are proving this place is similar to reddit.

  • Sure, but don't be an ass about it.

  • I know, but the source for your statistic is Meta themselves.
