I know there are plenty of efficient single gpu models out there, but I still assume most people are using data centers for image generation.
Also there is just something off putting about the style of most AI generated images, audio, and videos for me.
I've seen very few instances of very specific and fine tuned LoRAs/workflows that I would consider art/acceptable use. But the majority is just wasted electricity, rage bait, misinformation, scams, and slop
At 25 I was pretty atheistic, but now at 29 I feel more agnostic or apatheistic. Can't say for certain either way, but it's probably not a good use of my time to fully commit one way or the other
I think it's important to realize that a lot of these data centers aren't just doing LLM for chat bots
I'm guessing a lot of Meta's and xAI's data centers are mostly training and running content recognition and recommendation models.
Just speculating, but like HUGE embedding and CLIP models for high resolution databases of all the trash on Instagram/X/tiktok/YouTube paired with large multimodal Recurrent Nueral Nets that look at user's activity to recommend more content and ads
