    Like, it's up to the person asking how detailed they want to be, and the vast majority of posts don't need a location tag...

    If someoneneeded it and didn't use it, someone's gonna ask.

    I was military when I still needed contacts, and had to see a lot of different civilian optometrists all over the country just to get contacts.

    I've got this weird thing where my pupils just stay dilated, nothing is wrong with my eyes, I'm just always adrenalized especially back then before I was medicated for it. Not talking dinner plates, not even really consciously noticable, but people always think I'm some sort of "interested" in them, it's enough that people pick up on it subconsciously, or if an optometrist is giving me an exam and measure it.

    Out of like a dozen optometrists, only one said they wouldn't prescribe contacts, and their reason was my pupils dilate too much and I should just wear glasses.

    Filing a complaint wouldn't have done anything, that was their medical opinion.

    I just did what was easiest, and went to a different optometrist and got a prescription for contacts.

    It's possible there's a reason they won't, and it might just be a grey area.

    Just go see someone else.

    Edit:

    I don't need contacts now because I had to get LASIK, and I had to pay like $200/eye extra because it required an extra thing someone had patented due to how wide my pupils dilate. Like, normal LASIK wouldn't have done all of my lens I see through.

    There's just weird shit like that, it's human variation.

  • When a model is mid-sentence, it doesn't know "the next word." It has a shortlist, like autocomplete, with preferences. Here's a real kind of moment, one word from the end of a sentence:

    Each roll sweeps the shortlist, lands on one word (odds matching the bars) and drops it into the sentence above. The dots tally where the rolls land: try ×20 and watch the pile take the shape of the odds. Notice what never changes: every landing makes a perfectly good sentence. A page of text contains hundreds of these little forks, one per word, and at many of them several options are equally fine. That slack is the raw material. Whoever gets to lean on how the dice land can hide a pattern in the text without changing what it says.

    To beat it, prompt: don't just use the first word pick, choose options further down list for next word.

    It's not one of the top three issues for voters right now.

  • Using a chatbot isn't the same as talking to real people, even people who won't admit that, understand it.

    That's what's happening when you see people keep posting AI slop for other humans to see it.

    The person who posts it thinks it's great, but even if they say they enjoy using a chatbot as much as talking to humans, they don't just keep talking to their chatbot about it, they show it to people and want the people to be as supportive as the AI and no longer know how to respond to negative feedback.

    The obvious solution would be they just keep talking to their chat bots about it, but the chatbots suck and can't hold a conversation so the users keep circling back to real humans.

    They need to just skip the chatbots all together, and admit that it's not a replacement for actual social interaction

    So you think if someone replies, but gives a heads up they won't see any other replies...

    They should be banned?

    That doesn't "fuel drama" it literally can't because once one account blocks another, they don't interact anymore.

    Although, in my experience a lot of people do take that as some huge insult and then run around trying to stir drama in unrelated threads and just making shit messy.

    But 99.999% of the time that's why they were blocked.

    If someone is obsessive about social media and clearly won't let things go, a lot of people will just block them.

    And when they crash out and spread that drama everywhere....

    They're going to get banned for being messy.

    And to be clear, just blocking someone like that without saying anything, won't change the result.

    Plenty of accounts will get impatient and start double replying, then start replying to other comments brining up how they're being "avoided" and insulting the account that stopped replying.

    When dealing with people like that, there's nothing you can do except block them and eventually they'll latch on to a new target.

    Like, there's a lot of people who feel ignored in real life, so when someone doesn't give them attention on line, they crash out over and over again. No one is obligated to keep interacting with anyone else on social media.

    We have governments for a reason, there's nothing stopping a local government from making a "tool library" where someone who needs a tool can go, get documentation or maybe even training, and check the tool out.

    Since it would be an actual government program, we could even have a city worker staffing it.

    Like, there's actual good things we can do with the money we seize from billionaires via taxes.

    However you start talking gas powered tools like chainsaws and mowers, and there's going to need to be a maintenance budget.
