  • I have a bass guitar autographed by Steve Vai, Tosin Abasi, Yngwie Malmsteen, Nuno Bettencourt, and Zakk Wylde. It was my first “real” instrument that I got for my 17th birthday, the bass that I learned on, and has been by my side my whole life. She’s retired and hangs on the wall in my studio.

  • Today’s special: Cats on Rails

  • Backrooms resonates with people because it represents the fear of the unknowable, the fear of being in the presence of something you can’t see or identify, or understand its intentions. It’s practically infinite, easy to get lost in, and is way less empty than it looks. Maybe you’re fine. Maybe you’re seconds away from death. You can’t know.

  • Teenage

  • You guys know how hard it is to get that many cats to sit still for a painting?

  • Teefies

    Jump
  • ❤️ aww murder 🥰

  • Noodle chose that location herself, and she was determined to get up there any way she could, so I stacked some amplifiers off to the side to give her a little staircase to get up there.

  • In a world full of trained truffle dogs, be a Larry.

  • It means douchebags in lifted trucks proudly displaying their complete ignorance of proper flag etiquette.

It means my cat hiding under the couch all night.

It means glazing the very institutions of authority we purportedly were to have wrested ourselves free from 250 years ago.

It means ugly, flagrant displays of nationalism from people who don’t actually believe in liberty and justice for all.

But on the bright side I get a day off and I like fireworks and it won’t cost me anything to go watch them. So I will, and I’ll pretend they’re in celebration of something noble.

  • You get me.

  • Guitars.

I mean I actually do use all of them. Most of them. Some of them.

    One of them.

  • Pixies - Trompe Le Monde

Everyone I’ve talked to seems to gravitate to Doolittle or Come On Pilgrim as a favorite Pixies record, or the album that defines their vibe. But for me this album was my entry point not just for them, but to a bigger musical world and I’m forever grateful for that.

    1. My cat. Because there won’t be anyone to take care of her.
    2. A sample of copper water line and a valve - something they can study and reverse engineer to improve their infrastructure. I’ll have to explain the concept of water towers too since I probably won’t be able to actually bring one.
    3. A book on the history of the Roman Empire. Maybe they’ll do things a little differently this time.

Am I allowed to warn them about Pompei? They’ve got four years to evacuate that area.

  • I’m becoming increasingly convinced of the raw utilitarian nature of consciousness, it being nothing more than an emergent property of a complex enough neural structure.

The body dies, the brain shuts down, the consciousness just ceases to be. The consciousness that is now “me” comes back into existence in another newly formed neural structure. But it’s not me. It’s new, and the only reason “I” am in there is because I’m not in this brain anymore.

You can call reincarnation if you like, but to me that implies the consciousness carrying lessons from its previous lives for some greater purpose. I don’t believe that. When I die, everything I know dies with me and I pop back into existence a blank slate with no knowledge or care of what I once was. Maybe as a giraffe, or a sugar glider, or some hyper intelligent amorphous blob on a planet in a galaxy we can’t even see from here.

  • As I understand it, it was their father, Leopold, who insisted that she quit her music career once she became of marrying age. Which she did, but we still have lots of her music. She continued to write and send the scores to her brother.

I have a theory that a few pieces of music that we attribute to Wolfgang are actually Anna’s. Not because he was trying to take credit, but because he adored his sister and wanted to make sure her music got heard. But it’s just a theory, nothing I can prove.

  • Ah, the classic Egyptian Eye pose.

  • A remaster??? I hope they made it more colorful.
