  • people aren't seeing any of the benefits because the government just outright hates the people. those in power think that the lower classes are just some kind of really bad people who murdered and plundered to get where they are. and partially, that's indeed what europeans/americans did to get to where they are today. if the government really liked the people, they might give some handouts. though whether that's actually coming, we'll see.

anyways, handouts to the people would boost the economy because people have more money to spend, and also, new fields of industry are being created, such as renewable energy and spaceflight.

  • also i consider the dark ages were as important for european development, as you leave a good wine in the cellar or a dough in the fridge for a long time for it to mature and develop a special flavor.

  • i think a lot of people simply couldn't have imagined computers back in 1900. that is simply because computers are a rapid qualitative progress instead of just a quantitative one.

  • it's the vehicle of nostalgia hitting the wall between the past and the future

  • i'm not particular what you would call a normal guy and i have a lot of edgy views, but my take on this is simply that the main and by far number one reason why you're not supposed to talk to women nowadays is because social media has instilled an outright fear of men in women.

you see, women are naturally very intelligent and pick up signals, even small ones, fast. if they see a hundred social media posts a day, and even one of them says something like "men are bad, keep away from them", they will take the warning very seriously, even though there might be not much of a good reasoning behind it. maybe whoever wrote that social media post was only a crazy christian and was saying it because she was worried about staying "pure". there are unfortunately christian people out there who think that "morale" and stuff like "staying pure [from men flirting with women]" are more important than understanding the social needs of the people. such is religion. over the internet it spreads like crazy. that's why the women are all afraid of men. to which i respond with this meme:

(which means as much as: the fear is artificial and instilled; look at the actual predators. it is the rich)

My advice for you is: stay careful, as there are crazy "feminists" out there, who are only looking for a "catch". For example, they want to test their "critique" on someone, and try to hurt you simply because they're looking for a fight. but also, you must understand that only your heart will carry you forward, so you must listen to it. it is a difficult path to walk, but maybe you can try it.

  • Thank you for taking the patience to put this into words so nicely! I really appreciate your perspective. Maybe I was being too rude calling Republicans "dumb", I apologize. I guess I'm just as angry as many other people at seeing the proposed Republican plans (especially "slashing public spending" a.k.a. reducing social welfare) and seeing people actually vote for that.

Yeah, people in the US want change. I'm not sure what would be a productive and viable proposal that doesn't completely fuck up the country. I'm European and have a non-interference policy for myself when it comes to the internals of the US. In other words, I don't want to meddle too much with what's going on in the US.

  • Just curious but are we heading towards an "eat the rich" society?

I guess we should be, but that's just my personal opinion.

Realistically, no. The people have clearly expressed how dumb they are and what they desire in the November election. They want dumb Republicans, they get asshole CEOs. I don't see it any other way.

Honestly, I believe voting is the best way to bring change about a society that wants to change. It's just that I have given up the thought that the US wants to change in the direction that I would go. So no, it's not gonna happen.

  • I have held this stance for many years (am not American though), and everytime I proposed it someone from the US told me "Nooo we've had that in the past and we fought a civil war in order to stay together!!! We can't split!" and I think it's like a broken marriage that was never easy to begin with that's just being held together because the parties are too stubborn to say "ok well let's split up". It's an unhealthy relationship.

  • After all, it's only intelligence when I do it.

  • We obviously live in a matrix/simulated world, and it can't be older than 50 years, because before that, computers didn't exist. Checkmate christians.

  • without watching the video - google search is falling apart because there's a lot of shit content, a lot of bad articles being written.

and there's a lot of bad articles being written because there's a lot of authors that just want to make money from advertising, without actually caring about the content. in other words, it's advertising's fault that the quality of content is dropping. and ironically, it's mostly google's fault that advertisement on the internet got so big as it is today.

  • we live in very special times. take a step back and appreciate how transformative the recent years are.

for a billion years, life existed on earth. in the last 200 years, we invented electricity, electric cars and transistors.

  • it's me me meee right?

  • People are freaking out because for years, the central dogma was to "educate yourself, that makes you special, that makes you unique, that guarantees you a prosperois economic future" and such, and now this promise is about to be broken. People are in denial: AI is a good thing.

  • do those orbits get larger over time?

    Yes, I think they do.

I think that expansion doesn't increase distance, but velocity between objects (or so was my interpretation back when I looked at the formulas). That means that moving objects speed up over time. As such, orbital velocities increase, too, and that lifts their orbit - similar to when a rocket on a closed orbit propulses forward.

But I might be wrong; I feel 70% certain about this one.
