  • Used to use fusion 360, hate cloud, freecad is painful to use, been trying out plasticity and it seems pretty decent

  • I don’t know either dropout cured my depression! /s but it’s very much my sense of humour. Highly recommend game changer, and if you care for ttrpg actual play stuff starstruck odyssey is some of my favorite stuff.

  • Proud subscriber of dropout tv and they 100% deserve it. Everything else I mooch off someone else lol. But tbh the majority of stuff I watch are on dropout or Apple TV tbh.

  • I have 32gb on my work laptop but that shit still feels like molasses because of all the background garbage from both windows and admin and also the fact that lunar lake single core speed is slow as hell. I do definitely use most of that ram though and honestly I’m not sure that it should considering about 50% of my work is in the cloud. Then again vscode also sucks and I can’t use anything else because my company is ass backwards about approving software. End rant.

  • I don’t think it’s that, it’s that this comment doesn’t really add anything and it’s annoying to see the same tribalistic tropes repeated in every single post about phone brands. I despise the dogged fanboyism of the android and iOS people.

I didn’t up or downvote for the record.

  • I’m hopefully for maybe a return to a hardware focused Apple but we’ll see. Apple silicon was truly great, but I want moar.

  • I setup ssh key access only on all my machines so that bit is ok. Maybe I’ll forgo ssh like you’re suggesting as well. I thought I had some use for it but it’s been a while since I was messing with my forgejo instance, I’ve kind of fallen back to GitHub and codeberg for a bit since I’ve been busy. I couldn’t get https cloning to work for some reason either so I neee to investigate that I guess.

  • Thoughts on this versus tangled besides this being more mature? Also question, I have cloudflare serving as my ddns, I believe some settings I have configured there prevent ssh from working to my forgejo instance. Is it a security risk to allow ssh traffic properly? I have other services on the same subdomain published as well if that matters.

Edit: would Tailscale be a solution here?

  • Unfortunately, but the song is still pretty great

  • If people get to say all Americans suck for not standing up to Facism well enough and all men suck then I can say all boomers suck. Is it literal? Not really, but the sentiment remains.

  • Nah. Boomers actually just suck.

  • You inclined to drop some examples?

  • I’m not sure if why you’re aggressively pushing the idea that I’m against the idea of eliminating capitalism or changing to a different form of government for disagreeing to a specific point. I’m trying to have a discussion and perhaps have my viewpoints challenged and yet often on this platform everyone devolves to hostile dunkage.

Aaaanyways. I just find the idea of no currency to be difficult to implement. You need everyone to feel like their work is equally as valuable as others, and also for people not to feel as though others are receiving things despite doing nothing for them. Yes working to have anything is absolutely capitalism but also if someone spends their entire life toiling away doing say plumbing and someone else decides to do nothing and still receives stuff that seems a bit asinine. I’m all for supporting those who literally can’t participate in the labor or you know having actual maternal leave etc etc, but I can’t really fathom obliterating my body while someone else doesn’t and receiving equal allocations. And at the point then we’ll food and water and whatever else you get is still a currency. Perhaps there’s a different angle to this though that I’m some how not understanding

  • The problem is that the base still relies on humans. Even in a perfect system you can’t eliminate greed. Eventually someone will want more than what they need and use violence to take it and the cycle repeats

  • That’s not true anymore btw

  • Why do people always say “ I don’t like jazz” as if it’s one monolithic genre lol.

  • It’s quite frustrating honestly. Being in the lab, having flexible hours, and solving problems that you often willingly spend your free time doing them are things I miss even if it’s sometimes a grind and the bureaucracy can be annoying. Now I deal with all that except the people I interact with are often not as intellectually oriented and it’s all about profit margins and speed even if I kind of like the job itself. Maybe that’s just the industry I’m in though.

  • lol some of us do. For the record I’m one of the people who elected for a different career because the country gives 0 shits about science. PhD stipends are laughable, I make 3-4x that as an entry level tech employee.
