  • Yeah, the way it's phrased it definitely seems like they want to make things worse by blaming voters for behaving like voters instead of focusing criticism on the elected officials who refuse to really attack the Republican party and its policies and end up demoralizing everyone

  • If you want people to vote for us when there isn't a Republican in the White House then we need to push for leaders who

    1. Consistently tell people Republicans are bad people with bad ideas.
    2. Tell people creating ICE and DHS were Republican ideas and they need to be gotten rid of because Republicans have bad ideas.
    3. Tell people things were better back in the 90s before ICE existed because we didn't let Republicans' bad ideas ruin everything and we could just go back to what we were doing then.
    4. Publicly disown anyone who tries to campaign with Republicans or says anything positive about them.

Deviating from those things only loses us votes.

e; deleted something that was needlessly proactive

  • Good luck, and tell your insurance company I said they're a bunch of bums

  • Also, somebody should mention the fact that 50 votes in the Senate plus a VP tiebreaker vote was all that was needed to just throw out the filibuster

Amazing how people who accuse progressives of not knowing how stuff works or whatever always forget that little detail

  • Eh, I think they can win one round of elections by doing that, but only one. To get reelected they actually have to do something once they're in office.

  • There's some inaccurate initial reporting that keeps getting circulated, to wit - Renee was not a single mother, she was married, and her middle name was not Nicole.

  • There's a lot of money and power in looking like you're solving a problem

  • Nah, I think if there are remotely fair elections in '26 and '28 they'll clean house no matter what they do, just like they did in 2006/08 or in 2018/20, because lots of people hate everything Trump is doing.

I also think that unless a bunch of important Dems get removed from office and the party they will completely waste this political power again, refuse to hold any Republicans accountable for their crimes or undo most of the damage they've done, throw tons of money at the police and military and big businesses, scream at everyone we ought to be grateful for the whole bunch of nothing they've given us, and put a Republican back in the white house by '32 with a fully powered police and military and army of oligarchs at their backs.

  • So they're going to have Maduro under armed guard in a courtroom before Congress even starts the discussion about whether or not they're allowed to do any of this, super cool super legitimate government stuff going on here /s

Also, I'm pretty sure this is like their sixth "attempt" at banning insider trading, kinda makes you wonder if our lawmakers' hearts are in it

  • Convict and pedophile* Dennis Hastert was Speaker of the House from 1999-2007

*Not a convicted pedophile because the DOJ only ever went after him for trying to hide payouts to his victims after the fact and actually tried to keep the reason he was making those payments under wraps until some journalists got the story

  • Imagine if we could just shitpost some nonsense about an oil company CEO and have a Democratic president just nuke all their subsidies within a day or two

  • Donald Trump is probably the only human being in the world that could make Bill Clinton temporarily seem honest and decent in comparison

  • Absolute nonsense, anyone would have beaten Trump in 2020, and the four years of Biden failing to hold Trump accountable or help the working class at all (while braying like a jackass about how great the economy was) totally handed the White House back to the orange asshole. He is without a doubt one of the worst presidents we've ever had.

  • Yeah, but will any of the police officers involved in this disgrace lose anything? Or is it just going to be taxpayers signing a settlement check again?

  • All of this, but also I hate hate hate how the media implicitly equates being a moderate/centrist with being good

Being willing to compromise is one thing but making compromise your whole ideology is really just telling your constituents "If you believe what I campaigned on when I asked for your vote you're a sucker, the only thing I really believe in is being on the winning side of every fight"

  • "If you don't want another strongly worded letter about this you better shape up mister! ... Anyway, please find out check for hundreds of billions of dollars enclosed."
