    To be fair though i mostly blame how companies invest in code for that, and if AI is tunned to their preference we will likly be no further than before.

  • To me the invisble hand really shows off a really cool phenomon. It is pretty cool that with some agreed apon currencies and a market you really can get a scale of human coopetation not seen before in human history.

    Calling it infallible is as stupid of "the divine right of kings" was even if feudalism was almost a remarkable improvement from war bands before (you know long stand multigenerational peace agreements and mechanisms to enforce bilatteral enforment).

  • The amount of times people failed to undetstand economics at this point should be shammed about.

    Wealth isn't a matter of deserving it. Any wealth earned by entertaining certain elites visions of what you ought to do is and always will be a function of those elites discretionary spending, and thus always at their discretion.

    If you are trying to convince a group of people to give you their wealth in exchange for something, the something is almost always something that is comparitvily easier for you to provide but more importantly something that group needs or wants.

    If you spend 3 decades earning certification that you know something, great. What does that give someone? Nothing. It is at best a signifier that you have a comparitive advantage, but is that true, do they people giving their wealth to you belive that? If no to either, its probally not worth it.

    This isnt just capitalism btw. This is true in intetpersonal relatiinships, mutual aid groups, intertribal bartering, etc.

  • Hard disagree. Everyone should learn basic logic and how to do simple automations on the computer. It really is basic computer literacy. And conputers are a near and increasingly more so constant in every part of the economy.

    Specialing in software engineering isnt needed, the same way everyone should basics about food and nutrition but not every needs to be a cheif.

    I was actually super disappointed.

    Tbh a sex doll if made with sincerity could actually be useful for anatomy classes, health classes, in very limited use, sex ed classes.

    Its a cpr dummy that could talk! A maniquin with sex organs! You get a skeleton, a muscle only version, a nervous system version, endocyen system model, and BAM you have whats in text books in a series of models that students can see in 3d, move around and manipluate. It could reacte to students too, so immediate feedback on chest compressions or tell me what muscle this is, etc.

    The cost is stupid high so i think VR is best case for this for now, but that is super limited for first aid/cpr type stuff.

  • I agree with most the thread on ads. Manipulation markets for mind altering substances sounds and are dystopian to me.

    Taxes should be normal rate for goods and services + the public cost to research harmful effects + cost to migate/solve harmful effects.

    If that industry leads to children being abanded by or essetially abanded by their parents then the cost to raise and care for those kids and help them navigate that trauma needs to be reapplied back to that industry. Both income and sales taxes should be applied as needed (for example if research suggested a higher sales tax would just be circumvented by black markets).

  • I genuinely wonder what the costs comparison looks like for these options.

    I could see the use case for hydrogen as a battery, in rural areas where transporting power over wire would be cost prohibitive. The added benifits being that if you used most of the fuel in between electrified lines you lose the weight of the fuel unlike batteries.
