We know exactly how it works, you describe down to physics if needed, BUT at different levels of abstration in the precense of really world inputs the out puts are novel to us.
Its predicting words that come after words. The "training" is inputing the numerical representation of words and adjusting variables in the algorythem until the given mathmatical formula creates the same outputs as inputs within a given margin of error.
When you cat I say dog. When some says what are they together we say "catdog" or "pets". Randomness is added so that the algorythem can say either even if pets is majority answer. Make the string more complicated and that randomness gives more oppertunity for weird answers. The training data could also just have lots of weird answers.
Little mystery here. The interesting "we dont know how it works" is that these outputs give such novel output that is unlike the inputs sometimes to the degree it seems like it reasons. Even though again it does not

Personally the permaculture/food forest idea idea like to care over is lifecycle exspectations.

This is what see in terms of fediverse instances lacking community. Who might take over as the lead? Who can troubleshoot an issue at 10 UTC? What about about 2 UTC OR 22 UTC? Who is in charge during ramadan? Christmas? Etc.

This can be solved with the intentional community way. An orginization exists. Guidelines and rules documented. Members trained. Rules enforced. Trust given to roles, members given roles. Like an orderly garden.
It can also be managed by creating antifragile systems. Like a food forest. Mbin's PR community concensus proccess is an example to me. Trust is more in the proccess than the person. Decentralized Autonomus Orginizations (DAOs) are another example of that. As could be smart contracts. Basically steps taken to make the proccesses and ecosystem handle the maintinance move towards this version.
I wonder if a federation of admins could help some there too. Basically multiple instances ran by different people but an agreed standard of neccerary configs to make it a unified interface from the users stand point.
Tbh my first thought was "ehh people can just vpn around it then" which is basically just saying its easily circumventable and i know no instance of legal issues for those that do.

Finding obsure places to hide my nodes is practical matter for me, because space is always a premium, so over sizing cooling solutions (liquid cooling to big radiators) and then finding wierd places to tuck them away (i mean why cant a computer rack be a night stand, the raspberry pi is clustered anyway why not stick in a lamp, the crawl space is actually always dry there and nice and cool to boot!, etc, etc). That probally adds some* factor to it.

The closer government is something that makes alot of sense to me too. I find municple, town, county level politics much more grounded then my federal level decisions (which is more like EU scoped politics to me in comparison at about half the population but about the same land mass). State level, which an average of almost 6 million being represented by the goverment vs the 350 million the fed size has to represent, also seems more reasonable though in terms of action very limited.
I know one reform here id like is to expand the number of federal representives here to be scaled with population again. It was orginally scaled at 1 for every 30 thousand (which feels like a human scale of representation), but including our upper house its around 750,000 per elected member of congress.
It depends on why. Is it a blind obedence to law, i.e. any law breaking is considered immoral to you? I.e. you oppose speeding, jaywalking, hiding Ann Frank just as much. No, probally not. That is a different issue called Statism.
After that you'd have to get into the countries actual laws and what their intentions and effects are. Is it just a matter of getting documented and agreeing to follow laws and participate in society and people are bypassing that in order to shirk accountabilty? No thats not racist.
Is it because there is a quota based on country of origin in order to shape demographics and so people desperate to move cant do so legally? Yeah, that's probally racist (with current demographics of the world largly affected by a few centuries of racist policy, both colonial and domestic).

A deer can mess you up but also if you think about why it would (in rut looking for a fight with other bucks, scared as hell and cant run away) its pretty easy to avoid. Few animals see people and think "oh good an easy meal".
They are their own thinking things though, again not people, not bambi, but they have wants and needs and in a mixture of instincts anf thoughts can do incredibly complex things and also shape the enviroment around them just like we do.
Ive had that opinion for a while too. Though my understanding is that cultural enforcement of norms and rules is big part that minimizes some of the need for a stronger state. Though this also has issues such as caste system and strict gender roles in some areas (speaking broadly about 1.4 billion over a huge land mass, so plenty of exceptions and the like).
They could call around asking for pro bono. The firms wright off the costs as charity, but they could still get some in legal fees from the opposition if they win. Tbh though i pay for legal insurance because i hate fraudsters like this, not it helps someone screwed after the fact.
