Out of all the displays in the house, there's only one 4k computer monitor. The dumb tv is a 1080p, my other monitor is a 720p, then my partner has a DVI and a VGA monitor for his computer.
Where I'm at in the NW US, the icy pellets are called 'graupel', the slushy snow/rain is "sleet". Sometimes the weather guys call it "wintry mix" but I haven't heard it outside that.
Time is a metaphor, a human construct that we've devised to explain how the quantum entanglements affect us. It's like how we use color as a way to describe how we sense a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum with our optical organs. Neither time nor color are "real" in the sense that you can find a physical atom of it, but still useful language to describe how we interact with the world around us.
The culture wars have reached the fediverse, and it's making me less happy to be here. I don't want to hang out in places where people use slurs and insults, even if they're not aimed at me. I'm seeing more casual misogyny/misandry, more casual use of the r**** slur, more perfectionist gatekeeping, more assumptions, and just less good-faith comments in general.
I'd advertise, but I'm starting to look for an alternative to lemmy.
They're just feral false eyelashes
