  • Hmmm… possibly. My 2016 MacBook Pro was a real piece of shit. the only Apple product I ever owned that was just made badly. I mean— I had it for 10 years, but that fucker was broken 15 ways from Sunday. Keyboard, trackpad, battery, all non-functional within a year or two. The rest worked fine for a decade tho, until one day - poof! It just died. (technically, last October.)

I replaced it with a 16” MacBook Pro M4 Pro. I’m very happy with that.

    Thank goodness for cloud backups

  • I absolutely adored mine. I had no idea why everyone had such a fucking problem with it.

  • "two-way street" implies an equal exchange, not just equal opportunity to speak, and only someone who's never been on the receiving end of one would ever make the mistake of thinking there's anything equal about it.

in fact, the only ones I've ever heard make that argument are bigots themselves, trying to excuse or defend their bigotry while shifting blame to their victims for "not standing up for themselves" or some other victim-blaming bullshit.

DARVO (an acronym for "Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender") is a reaction that perpetrators of wrongdoing, such as abusers, narcissists, or sexual offenders, may display in response to being held accountable for their behavior.[1] Research indicates that it is a common manipulation strategy of psychological abusers.

    DARVO

  • I'm clearly not the only one here who feels this way, and I'm sure that none of us are surprised that, right from the start, you're deflecting any responsibility for what you've created.

  • free speech is a two way street

    it really isn't

  • You can debate your point with out dehumanizing others, when you can't, you've already lost the argument.

No. You can’t. And giving a “open mic“ to the Nick Fuenteses and Stephen Millers, and Charlie Kirks of the world who will put on a suit and a tie and try to “debate” you while dehumanizing others with nice sounding words gives them a platform to spread their hate while framing it as a “civilized debate“ rather than the coded bigotry that it is, while you cast aside any responsibility for letting them do it, tossing your hands up and claiming “free speech”.

It’s plainly and obviously bullshit. It’s like inviting a vampire into the house and then being surprised when everyone turns up dead.

  • But it doesn’t appear that you’re specifically disallowing it either

You are definitely entitled to feel that way though.

My concern is that this is what you will also say to the bigots when they arrive

When you sit down at a table and nine Nazis sit down at that table with you, there are now 10 Nazis sitting at that table.

  • It has been my experience that “free speech” (especially online) is code for “bigotry welcome”.

I see nothing in the description here to convince me this will be any different.

  • Today in Trump’s Crusade to fuck everyone and make the world worse in every conceivable way

  • Multimillionaire? Are you really that bad at math?

It’s not like she came from money. Do you know what she was before she became a politician? She was a bartender at a Mexican restaurant about a block away from Union Square. I happen to know this personally, because that’s where I met her in 2015: in between classes at university, I walked into that bar, and she got me fucked up on margaritas.

Unless you’re suggesting that I left her millions of dollars in tips that day…

  • Oh, I agree. It really would be nice if ublock origin light was installed by default.

  • I prefer uBlock Origin Lite on Safari. I switched a while back because adblock wasn’t catching ads in YouTube.

  • They have pretty good privacy and anti-fingerprinting stuff in Safari, but not ad blocking— although they do have an odd tool for “hiding distracting items“ that can work as an ad hoc ad blocker of sorts. On the other hand, ublock origin light works wonderfully for me. Both on macOS Safari and iOS Safari.

  • Sheesh M4 Support already? Wow.

While the Apple M4 SoCs aren't yet supported by the mainline Linux kernel and the Apple M3 series hardware isn't yet ready for end-users, there are some early elements of the Apple M4 support beginning to come together by open-source developers working on the Apple Silicon support. Sent out to the Linux kernel mailing list were patches for enabling NVMe solid state drive support with the M4.

    Oh, still…

  • Hard drives

  • Several casinos

  • Ask Rupert Murdoch

  • Fox News has been on the air for 29 years, so obviously not

  • You do understand that the majority of MAGA believe their policies help people?

They believe it helps them, and that’s all they care about. Themselves. As far as “people” in general, they couldn’t give less of a shit.
