  • Yeah I'm not really that proud of that phase. It broke after witnessing consecutively poorer quality shows and movies released after Endgame, after which I tried exploring movies from other franchises.

  • Fair enough. I didn't happen to like the Dune movies, so I didn't even bother finishing the first one.

    Agree with the sound design problem. I was lucky I was able to view the trilogy at home, else I would probably have my ears blown off like a cartoon character by the end.

  • Same opinion on the voice thing. He probably used to take a dozen cough pills every morning after doing that fake cringey voice at night as Batman.

    I have yet to watch The Batman, but I'll be looking forward to it since I've been a fan of Robert Pattinson's performance in the last few Nolan's movies.

  • Morgan Freeman was in the cast as well???!!! Somehow I assumed he was only destined to narrate throughout his entire career that I failed to acknowledge his existence as an actor even when he was in front of the screen countless times.

    I was equally fascinated by the performance of each actor in the trilogy and hold no particular actor above the other, though I prefer Michael Caine in particular simply due to his role as a British, good-willed and supportive butler according to the plot.

    I agree that the 2nd movie was overrated. I assumed by the plethora of Joker memes that the movie would be an all-time cinematic masterpiece. The Joker's character was certainly entertaining and unique, but it was not magnificent enough to rate it above all other antagonists in the movie industry.

    I have mixed feelings about the 3rd movie. Some scenes had poor executions or just felt frustrating. However the first and last quarters if the movie kind of redeemed the movie for its imperfections and ultimately I was completely satisfied with its ending.

  • Interesting. I did find the soundtracks to be cinematic while watching the movies, but there was nothing iconic about it, not even a simple hum I could remember afterwards. I could always recall parts of the music for other Nolan's films I've watched, but the entire trilogy seems to be an exception for some reason.

  • My primary motivation to watch the trilogy was to see how Christian Bale would play a regular non psychopathic role across three complete movies, even though I haven't actually seen American Psycho. I don't know why this was my main motivation, just that it was.

  • Tron: Ares was not that bad either. The visuals were a clear upgrade from Tron: Legacy and a handful of clips I've seen from the original Tron movie. You can notice that that they put a lot of details in places like Ares' HUD, consoles, the proprietary 3D printer and the virtual red-coloured world whose name I can't remember right now.

    The soundtrack does complement the movie, although I noticed that they repeated certain "melodies" across the movie more than I would've liked. It's obviously not at par with Daft Punk but it resembles the spirit of the Tron franchise.

    The plot is a real rollercoaster in terms of quality and believability. The backstory and plot of the main protagonists feel solid and so is the interaction between each other. Somehow Jared Leto decently fits the role of Ares and his dialogues don't feel out of place or cringey. On the other hand, the story gives too much power to the antagonist to the point that it clearly feels unfair. Also some action scenes feel like they're happening just because they have to, and probably give material for the trailers to give the viewers something to look forward to while watching the movie.

    If you have no qualms with the involvement of Jared Leto, I would recommend that you give this movie a try. It's certainly not a masterpiece, but it's surprisingly well made for a movie that that considered a flop by the users at Lemmy.

  • I really appreciate the work you're doing! I mostly local PDF viewers and editors for my daily work, but for situations where those apps fail, BentoPDF reliably helps me out.

    I recall having used tinywow.com for bite-sized tasks with files which I found quite convenient at the time. While I have stopped using it in favour of better and privacy respecting applications, I love how BentoPDF brings about a similar level of convenience, as a FOSS app no less.
