  • erm... he bid for presidential chair twice, got torpedoed by Dems twice.. he's been punching above his weight all the way, considering he's Independent and Dems have no obligation to listen to him at all, they have actually ended up following his lead as he was putting progressive items on agenda that others had to copy. For a single man he's done a LOT. For a guy outside the party to get support that he's got within the party is already an accomplishment.

  • is there a party capable of carrying the election outside of the two? I can guarantee that if viable party was formed with progressive program he'd dump Dems.. As it stands american electoral system forces him to support one of the two evils. For goodness sake they've torpedoed him twice now... so I don't think it's alegiance... it's sheer pragmatism.

  • he does not. He's arguing for collective action, once that is on the table blue or red will have to answer to demands of the many. So, no, he's not asking to vote blue, he's asking to grab pitchforks... that guy is Independent and caucused with dems but he never shied away from lambasting Dems.

  • They could've stripped president of immunity and most powers on the way out and complicated process of restoring that... which would be very democratic yet they've failed to do that

  • They could've "poisoned the well" by locking the status quo and forcing legislation timelines to be 2yr+ so that nothing gets canceled until next midterms muzzling GOP and they could've stripped POTUS of his powers by POTUS submitting an executive order etc... multiple ways to go about it and they did not touch a single one other than "pardons"...

  • so, with POTUS47 so blatantly (ab)using superpowers granted to him WHY did Biden fail to use even fraction of the same powers to protect the country?

  • this is called extortion and racketeering... citizens get sentenced for this, POTUSes get to be idolized by electorate...

  • erm... for them to move to center they have to shift left. Currently they are pretty much righ of the center. They are only to the left of Republicans.

  • libertarians calling out POTUS47 on his lunacy, now that is something...

  • I see no statements from Muslim communities who helped him to grab this presidency. I would like to know their reaction to this.

  • we've got pineWatch so why not pebble? PineWatch is OK but it's.not pebble. It was an amazing low tech that was actually extremely useful

  • My opinion is that of the two Postres is more "adult". So if you want to"just wing it" MariaDB would work, but if you're serious Postgres is a better choice. However Postgres also requires better understanding of you setup etc. So it's a ROI game - what's more important to your project, how complex your DB is, what are the requirements for availability, transaction security etc. There is no "better" or "worse" there's "feasible" and "prohibitive" 😉

  • "are you a chicken Marty? Are you?" jeez... so mid-to-highschool 🤦

  • we can only hope fb implodes sooner rather than later. I personally know multiple people working there who are very decent human beings who need to pay bills. I just hope their current trajectory will force employee action and paralyze fb long enough to hurt. Unlike other places it's not so simple to just hire a load of IT professionals and have any meaningful results short term, esp. if they have not been ramped up to speed by their colleagues. So it's not impossible, bowever tolerance threshold is kind of high for any action to take place. Wads of cash, unpaid mortgages and all. Employees of big tech are truly living in gold cages...

  • I wonder whether alternative solutions were discussed: like Google retaining integration but breaking off Maps division into it's own entity that has to use same API's as everyone else and use the same integration points. Would've been more user-friendly thing to do.

  • funny, on the same day we get a headline about Germany energy prices dipping into negatives mainly due to renewables... hmmm

  • well after Pelosi torpedoed AOC there's little surprise. That person is dead set against progressives tanking them at every opportunity. She is made of steel and were effective in some things that were net positive but she's wielding too much power with Democrats and is virtually unchecked.

  • that's just the thing comservatives turned the entire system into game "us vs them" and liberal joimed in a bit later as they lack the capacity to redefine the game. Progressives get shunned by their respective wings and orthodoxy gets entrenched making it even more of "us vs them". I'd love to find a way to abolish parties and force representatives to actually represent all people from their electorate area... but I'm a dreamer.

  • so he's not president yet and already backing out of his election pledges... we can only hope it'll piss off his electorate, but it won't, they'll just get angrier at opponents
