In Thailand (and Vietnam, Philippines) where I often live plastic recycling is basically non existent and I think it's a good thing, let me explain.
The value of plastic and recyclability is really low but exposure overhead is massive (thrash being lost to ocean etc) and after visiting a trash burning facility myself I'm completely converted to trash burning. On paper plastic recycling make sense but it so low value with absurdly high overhead - just getting plastic straight to the incinerator as fast as we can is the best thing we can do imo.
As for other materials like aluminum it's very recycled everywhere I've been as it pays very decent money.

This obviously is a poor strategy for a dozen of other reasons but they are simple, stupid people so to them simple stupid solutions are very attractive especially if it scratches their need for cruelty and racial superiority.
Fun fact: you can literally go to prison in the US for breaking ToS due to various laws like CFFA (Computer Fraud and Abuse Act). So if the teen broke the ToS to any way that harms OpenAI (like killing himself) OpenAI actually has a legal path to criminally prosecute him lmao

Nope I speak for the local pov of my friends not of my own. People legit dream to move to tourist areas here because life is legit better. You don't have to believe me, just google real data. Would you rather work in some unregulated factory or take tourists snorkeling? It's a no brainer.
People are panicking but market will correct itself. RAM is basically a solved technology and supply is limited by lack of factories not ability to manufacture.
Care to share this data because from googling around for regions I'm familiar with the story is exact opposite. I'm not familiar with New England but the data is quite the opposite for places I am familiar with.

I'm a digital nomad in south east asia and I lived in villages, industrial towns etc and I can 100% say that locals have a much better life in tourist towns.
There's a reason tourist towns have so much immigration because people actually want to be there despite vocal minority raging on the internet - the stats don't lie.
It's exactly opposite. Local governments have immense control of their own local resources almost everywhere around the world. If worst to come there's nothing stopping from locals implementing entry tax and managing tourists any way they feel like - all of which have been done before and is being done currently. At the end of the day locals are the ones that get paid the tourist money and thats exactly why tourism is so good because it gives independence and power for towns and cities rather than waiting for central government initiatives.
