  • Well alright fair enough.

I would contend that experience informs values and that original values come from your parents, but I was not trying to wade in because it didn't feel like good faith. Values are evolving over time and are based on feedback for sure, but there's more to it than just that.

  • Some things yes. Somethings no. The question is, can you be a person about it?

If you are arguing about whether people have human rights inherently? Awesome. Keep that. If you are routinely arguing about how many wheels a train car should have? Maybe chill out. People are going to have different values than you so ymmv, but if you can make an effort to attempt to empathize most things aren't as cut and dry as even Lemmy makes them out to be.

  • Edit: Anyone seeing this outside from the top of the thread, don't waste your time following it, it is not worth it. Take the shorter route below.

  • #brainrot

  • At least it CAN notify. I've got a zigbee door sensor glued to the side of the freezer and the door!

  • Yeah I was sick one year when my niece was an infant. Family asked me to stay home.

It was fine. I watched TV and smoked my hookah. All in all a pretty good day.

  • I can recommend "outside".

Been working pretty well this year so far.

  • What makes you think I'm commenting on anyone's appearance?

Some people get worked up about dumb things, and some people absolutely ARE Nazis. At the same time "everyone and everything I don't like is a Nazi" and "ugly people don't exist" are dumb positions to hold.

My straight up position in all these comments is that, purely by statistics, someone calling you out for your looks (while being absolutely assholish behavior) is less likely to be a Nazi on the face of things than for you to not being a good looking fella or lady.

I don't know the history of the comic and I can barely read the sub comic that one or the other is holding, but someone calling you ugly on only fans does not equate to naziism. Simultaneously, a person can be ugly and karma farm one topic (naziism here) without adding anything to the quality of general discourse. Some people are Nazis, some people are assholes, and some people are ugly bastards on OF that say "AI bad" and obviously anyone who is an asshole to me for any reason has a mom who's a clanker.

I see your point very clearly. Do you see mine? Everyone is beautiful and everyone who is mean on the Internet is a Nazi are both false statements even when it is inconvenient to say so? OBVIOUSLY the point of this comic is Nazis are bad (I agree) and that they fire up for no reason (I have no experience to know if that's true), but as feel-good as that is, it is a vapid response to reality.

  • I like being able to intervene (especially for parking and minor repositioning and stuff), but I have to say FSD on the newer models of Tesla with lidar is pretty good: it is actually less convenient to actually drive than to let it drive you. Of course that's both because the self driving is very decent AND because by removing the gear stalks it's sort of less convenient to drive manually IMO.

You still have to be more or less engaged which is how it should be, but it doesn't get tired or distracted and drift in lanes, it doesn't look out the window and forget to brake or brake too hard, and it effectively raises the quality bottom line.

Now, of course, just like everyone else, I'm an above average driver and also NN driven vehicles aren't PERFECT so why the hell would you let them drive anyway?

I all seriousness I like the option to offload to a more or less functional autopilot, but I wouldn't be comfortable in a car with no controls or overrides at all at this point.

  • That could well be. I find this comic style annoying and I tried to block it but it is inescapable. I'm not trying to scrutinize it because then I have to look at it.

Next tell me if stupid is a linear scale or not.

  • You can think whatever you want, internet rando, so long as you aren't deluded about it. Though delusion seems to be a fairly common position.

Edit: Actually you're welcome to be deluded too. But it by no means makes you right or your opinion any more valuable 🤷. I suspect you're at least one.

  • Read it again. It means everyone who disagrees with you or doesn't like your look isn't a Nazi, you can also be wrong and bad looking with probably equal or better probability. Especially if Lemmy is your barometer.

  • Agreed. And Mimi too.

I block pizza and cake and pizzacake but some fuckers can't be bothered to tag I guess @not_IO@lemmy.blahaj.zone

  • Is it more likely that a person is a Nazi, or that you're conventionally unattractive? 🤔

There are a lot of Nazis, but there are way WAY more ugly people before you get too smarmy about it.

I'm sure many people will think you are stunning and brave though and you should hang out with them instead, but the fact remains.

    Edit:

Oh no! Some people are stupid, some people are ugly, and some people are Nazis. And on Lemmy you're way more likely to find the first two, that's just how it is. Shine up your personality and practice your multiplication tables.

    Edit 2:

I didn't actually open and read the comic and sub comic of this comic until now, but the fact remains: ugly people exist and for some reason I can't escape the blandness of pizzacake..

Actually I'd rather just leave it; still true.

  • Am I or do I?

  • John Stamos, right?
