  • I know basically nothing about any of those countries other than having vacationed in Mexico twice. I haven’t seen anyone say they are fed up with the U.S. and moving to Paraguay.

    Note: Mexicans have been emigrating out of USA for about a full decade now.

    So statistically speaking, Mexicans have been saying they're tired of USA and have moved back to Mexico.

  • English common law: a citizen is born in a land and that land was owned by a king. As such, the citizen and the land are like one. Citizens based upon birth are owed protection by the local king, while the local king is owed the work of said citizens.

    The tradition of birthright citizenship is far older than the 14th Amendment. People were arguing about this crap in the middle ages.

    The reliable grift, such as anti-immigramt hate and anti-muslim stuff is obviously coming. And as awful as they will be, I'm not convinced that it will have an obvious effect on our economy.

    When we start looking at things like Elon's grift or other Billionaires he's with, the stock market, crypto coins and other assets will go up. It seems unlikely to me that a crash would necessarily occur at the right timing you desire (this is bad for us in the long term. But the modern corporate economics world has become very good at hiding fraud and kicking cans down the road. Elon especially).

    If they can hold most money together and make their supporters money (see Cryptocoin and Tesla stock right now), then they have a winning economic message for their core supporters.

    Or do you think anyone actually gives a shit about how middle America will feel from this?

    There is a +Elon Musk boost to Elons messages on Twitter. Furthermore, all the pro-Ukrainian posts systematically become NSFW and hidden from the timeline. Even when it is totally safe to view (like cute cat videos being shared by Ukrainian soldiers).

    How the fuck do you get your message out on Twitter when Twitter specifically is being used to suppress your message?

    You can fight against the laws that empower this money system. But if you naively ignore the power structure and reality of today's media landscape, you WILL BE DOOMED TO LOSE.

    It's just like how Ukrainians keep getting censored on Twitter. It's simply not a fair fight, the owner and algorithms are literally against you, and you likely have teams of internal Twitter programmers being commanded to tailor make algorithms to fight us.

    And I'm convinced that Gaza/Free Palestine was a TikTok disinformation campaign designed to tear Democrats/leftists apart.

    We cannot trust any media. Indeed, we must assume they are working against us.

    Building new, mainstream media, that allows our viewpoints to be heard is step#1. Do not rely on Twitter, TikTok, Reddit, Instagram, Threads, BlueSky, WashPo, local newspapers, local Sinclair news, LA Times.

    We got like, TheAtlantic, The guardian and maybe PBS Frontline. Not exactly a powerful set of media to spread out viewpoints but it's a start.

    Lemmy.world and Mastodon seem like they are okay. But as noncorporate entities they will never be mainstream.

  • We aren't getting rid of that in the next 4 years. And I'm a former Republican so I'm not exactly against corporate interests (indeed, corporate interests is where the money and support is).

    I'm an anti Trump and as of now, former Republican. This was it for me, it's clear that Republicans can never defeat MAGA so I'm switching to the Democrats side and gonna see what I can do here.

    I get that Democrats are more liberal than me so I'll accept my place as a minority view. But I'm not against corporate interests. I'm just against the disaster that's about to happen here in America and now willing to join Democrats to stop it in 2026 and 2028.

    I'm talking to Democrats. I'm trying to tell you what your next move should be. The movement and overall organization of the Democrat Party goes above and beyond just its leadership.

    I'm talking to you, specifically. First thing we must do is understand why we lost, and that means understanding how Trump won. And the first step there is to stop taking him as a buffoon (even if he is), because there's a lot of people helping him succeed. We need to think about the whole enemy here, not just Trump but everyone who helped him this year.

    And instead of complaining to DNC leadership (who obviously tried everything they could to stop Trump), start thinking about how to defeat MAGA Republicans. Donald Trump is absolutely a shittier candidate than Kamala in every way imaginable. Its not a policy loss here.

    The first, and foremost failure, is the Republican party. They are the ones who have chosen Donald Trump to lead. And secondly, they are the ones who built up an organization to turn him into the most powerful political force in America. I salute the Republicans who are still fighting the anti-Trump fight, but the cause is 100% lost. MAGA is now going to be a multi-decade ideology and there's no way to pull Republicanism out of that trap in any short-term.

    That means we need to truly, armor up and organize a fierce resistance. One that can overpower and overtake the MAGA movement. This means seeing MAGA for what it is: a cultural behemoth that commands over 75-million votes today, reliably. They have Elon Musk (Twitter/X). They likely have Zuckerberg (Facebook/Meta/Instagram). They have Washington Post (Jeff Bezos, who has recently replaces the heads with former Murdoch editors). They have LA Times. They have Gannett (and their 200+ regional / local papers). I dare say they own Reddit and likely were running social media interference at the lowest levels (with false stories of hopium. If you were on /r/politics you know what I'm talking about, focusing on shitty stories that Kamala was ahead)

    Do you seriously think that all the major newspapers refusing to endorse Kamala Harris was some kind of freak accident? It was a preplanned move to specifically fuck us over. And it worked.

    That is the nature of our opposition. They aren't idiots. They are savvy. They are resourceful. They own the collective media space. And they use their power to get Donald Trump (a shitty man who is easily puppetted with praise), because they want a shadow puppet as their king.

    And now that their king is elected, you can see Cryptobros pumping their cryptocoins, Stocks in various media companies flying high, etc. etc. They know they won and they'll take the W today. But take a good look at America right now. In your depression, as you're thinking about why Kamala won, you're missing the real message.

    Ask yourself: Why did Donald Trump win. And think about it. The answer is right before you and blazingly far more obvious than any particular action that was within Democrats or Kamala's control.

  • Its way more obvious that WashPo was used as a backdoor to get conservative speakers into a liberal space this past year. It was effective, and they only revealed the treachery late in the game.

    Democrats 100% need to rethink their media strategy. In fact, I'd dare argue that the media problem is Democrat's #1 issue above all else. The infighting about 100k-ish votes in Michigan and blame to minorities needs to stop. Lets start thinking about the 10-million votes problem and really what we need to do to recapture / re-energize that.

    Wake up and smell the 2024. Its not 2014 anymore. Its not "circle jerked by WashPo", its "WashPo bans endorsements days before the election, timing maximum damage to the Kamala campaign".

    We need to reject elitism: its what drives people away from the DNC.

    You're falling for the fucking trap. The elites are Elon Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos, LA Times, and all the other billionaires in charge of internet media, newspapers, and cable.

    The "elites" are on one side. And they made their point very evident this past election.
