There are many definitions of pacifism, and without further context to simply say someone is a pacifist automatically makes them a fascist is a pretty myopic point of view.
I am anti-war, and I prefer peaceful resolution over violence. By definition I am a pacifist. But, that does not mean I will let someone simply walk all over me or my loved ones without opposition. It doesn’t mean I will simply resort to violence either.
The world is a complicated place, and to treat everything as if it’s an “either, or” situation does everyone a disservice and only feeds into the overall problem.
Yes. Because cookies are used for tracking and can be set without the aid of Javascript.
For anyone interested, cookies pre-date Javascript and are baked in the HTTP protocol by way of a Set-Cookie header that the browser responds to by storing whatever information accompanies the Set-Cookie header; usually a unique id that can then be used to track what pages on a domain you visit.
I stopped soda years ago, but have recently taken up sparking water. I probably should stop that too since apparently it can negatively impact your tooth enamel.
Last year I cut out 95% of all junk food and snacking, started eating more lean protein (like chicken), and made sure to cut out ultra processed foods where I could (i.e. home-cooked meals vs frozen dinners), and without increasing exercise I lost 20 lbs in 2 months. Sometimes it really is the diet that holds you back.
Are you sure you’re not really asking if lying is good or bad? To me that’s an important distinction that should be addressed.
My kids used to believe in Santa and the Tooth Fairy. I perpetuated those lies because it was fun for everyone, and the boys enjoyed it. Now they’re older and know better, and they understand both sides. They were not hurt or upset.
But if I know my friend’s wife is cheating on him, and I don’t say anything to him, then obviously that’s bad and my friend would be devastated even more to find out I withheld such important information.
We often conflate “not telling lies” with “all lies are bad”, and that’s not always true.
Slightly pedantic, but according to core-utils GitHub, false.c has not been changed in 21 years. But true.c, which is what false.c is based on, has been changed as recent as 4 months ago.
I couldn’t resist looking it up, and found the results mildly interesting.
The thing is, we’re not talking about the group. We’re talking about those obnoxious Christians who are ruining it for everyone. If that doesn’t include you, nice. But that doesn’t change anything about that overly vocal minority.
I used to sleep in class. But only after doing all of my work. I had ONE teacher who agreed that as long as the work got done, and I wasn’t disturbing anybody else, she would let me sleep.
Of course she was a first year teacher, so she probably didn’t know better.
