Día de la muerte

Pronouns: he/him/his

  • You don’t cook much do you? You want to tenderize your meat with something acidic. Ocean water is already salty, so that takes care of some of the seasoning.

    🧑‍🍳 💋

  • I never knew about the military plane’s application myself. I just knew it was while he was working for Eastman Kodak and it was an accidental discovery.

I also understand they had to “water it down” because it was too strong.

Edit: it occurred to me I could be confusing WD-40 with superglue re the accidental discovery comment.

  • Not quite. It was first used as a surgical closure by the inventor after his son cut his finger open on a model. The glue was originally created for making cockpit covers more secure on military planes.

  • Yes, but it’s the only generation I have any right to point fingers at.

  • There is a small overlap between (iirc) 1977-1982 (maybe 76-81) where they are called Xennials.

  • Make no mistake, Gen-X is part of the problem.

And I fully expect to be downvoted for my unpopular opinion.

  • I’ve never heard that connection before, but it does make sense since McDonald is a farmer, and every farmer I’ve ever met has a dog.

  • Old McDonald had a farm, e-i e-i o. And on that farm was a cow, e-i e-i o. With a moo-moo here, and a moo-moo there…

That’s the Old McDonald that I grew up with.

  • Use stereo for the movie. Some apps, like Netflix (iirc) has a setting for that.

  • Check that the audio format of whatever you’re watching matches the output of your listening device. If you watch a movie using 5.1, but your TV is stereo, then yes all of the loud shit is going to be very loud and crowd out the dialog. This might not be the silver bullet for everyone, but it costs you nothing to check your settings.

  • I would be shocked (shocked, I say) if Hollywood wasn’t mostly a front for money laundering rings.

  • Throwing in my two cents:

I would imagine package managers are because of C and C++ not having package managers. I remember 20+ years ago before package managers were a thing, before the Debians, Ubuntus, and Arch (btw)s (before autoconf and configure), when we would download software and have to compile it ourselves, and the lack of reliable means of knowing what dependencies were needed to compile said software. Repeat this ad nauseam for each dependency that itself had dependencies.

    It was Hell.

I for one am grateful for my dependency-resolving overlords. 🙇‍♂️

  • You’re absolutely right! Let’s see if we can find better ways to determine if something is AI-generated:

    • what other styles are giveaways?
    • maybe a combination of em dashes and bulleted lists?
    • I’m running out of ideas for this joke.
  • Any attention is better than no attention, right?

  • I have a water bottle that I put all of my spare change. 🤷‍♂️

But seriously, most banks (that I’m aware of) let you open a savings account for as little as $5 (minimum balance) with no extra fees. If you never withdrawal from it and drop a few spare bucks here and there, you may find yourself with “savings” too.

  • Whatever debt you pay off, continue “making payments” in the same amounts (to your savings account).

  • Yeah, but even when shit’s at its lowest, at least Lonliness got your back.

  • Seriously? I literally just started doing this myself. 😞
