  • I have recently got myself into hard sci-fi and I am having a blast. My last books were The Hot Zone, Jurassic Park and Lost World. I have now started The Martian. There are so many science facts you can learn from these while being wonderfully entertained along the way. So in conclusion I am more into the sci part where the fi part is just a careful extrapolation of an actual scientific basis.

  • I enjoyed it as a casual series to watch. Can recommend as well

  • I used to work on exercise sheets until late at night when I was still in university. It happened a few times that after I went to bed I would dream about unsolved math problems and actually came up with a solution. The hard part was trying to recall everything crucial after waking up the next day.

  • A turd.

  • Every time we touch by Electric Callboy

  • Ugh, these were exactly my thoughts about the indoor cat I once had. This little guy was so eager to explore the outside world. I felt bad for keeping him inside

  • Looks interesting!

  • I wish there was something like that for Apple TV.

  • Maybe have a look at Freetube.

  • This looks absolutely amazing!

  • I am intrigued in true love.

  • Turok 2 for GBC. Mediocre game, but man, the OST is a banger.

  • Mathematicians are very sought after in finance and (quantitative) consulting as well as in software engineering.

  • If I want to avoid connecting my LG smart TV with my network, but I would like to still use a remote with an external device running Jellyfin plugged in via HDMI, what privacy respecting options do I have here? AFAIK, TV sticks run Android and can also collect your data, so my natural guess would be to plug in a device running Linux, but how about remote control?

  • There is also Peersuite which is a P2P solution and offers great audio and streaming quality. However, it is mainly a single developer behind it and it hasn't received an update in months. It still lacks some polish and features like a server instance and persistent chats and rooms.

For me, this is the most promising one I have come across in terms of a replacement for Discord.

  • Thanks a lot for your suggestions and feedback! I also would like to use services within the EU, so I will give Bunny a closer look.

  • I am in the same boat (learning on the go, living in EU and using fail2ban and reverse proxy although I use nginx). Sounds good that it runs so well for you! Where did you register your domain? I'll look into BunnyCDN as well.

  • Selfhosted @lemmy.world

Own domain for Jellyfin and privacy concerns
