Same great Dharma, new SolarPunk packaging!

  • Star Trek is huge 'round these parts. One of the larger servers is trek themed, and there's a whole buncha trek coms on and off it

  • ... I am stunned that on Lemmy of all places no one has yet said star trek!

  • There are dozens of us! Dozens!

I actually quite like the MCU, especially Loki and Doctor Strange, any of the more magical-ish stuff. I even really like the avengers and Captain America stuff. I just have to shut off the political side of my brain sometimes to enjoy them, otherwise the Americaganda gets to me and bugs me.

  • Absolute favorite character in all of Trek. Majel is such a fucking treasure, and her portrayal of Lwaxana was incredible. I know most people don't agree, but I will always love my problematic Queen 👑

  • That's fair. I would love to be turned into a lemon tree, too. It's my favorite food. Haha. I'm hoping I don't have to live through losing the rest of my family, but I'm 10 years younger than the second youngest member of my family. I don't know if there will be anyone to bring peace to by the time I go. Lemon tree would be cool, but if I can be used to teach to doctors or to somehow save lives, that would be amazing

  • Similar scenario with my buddy. He was a Baptist preacher from the time he was old enough to be told by his family what he would be doing with his life, up until he was about 25ish when he left that. He had done funerals and been there to comfort families who had lost someone, but he was very nervous about actually doing the cutting up and such. He told me all about it excitedly when he had finally done it. Details I absolutely did not need haha

  • My best friend also did embalming. It's weird being their friends. Haha. But I'd be devastated if I lost him, I can't even think about it. I love that your friend gave back like that ♥️

  • I'd be cool with that. Let some college kids cut me up and maybe in that way I'll save lives haha

  • Honestly, I kind of wish I could have some kind of purpose for people like this after death. From what I gather, though, actually donating your body to something useful is fairly difficult with long wait lists and such. Which is a shame. I'd like to have some use after I'm gone. I have seriously considered trying to get myself to India to die and doing a sky burial like a few groups there do

  • I get this reference! I feel so included! Haha

  • You might actually both be saying the same thing here. Caveat being that I have no idea what the science says about cold/flu, but when talking about humidity when the air is colder it is drier. 90% humidity at 35F is not the same as 90% at 85F. As the air cools it is able to hold less moisture. So your observation that there's an uptick during colder weather at a higher relative humidity could be the same as saying it's more likely in drier air, because the air is drier when it's cold, even when the relative humidity shows the same percentage.

  • Ooh, I like that! I tend to say "no entiendo" but I'm not sure if that's actually correct. No se is a lot easier haha

  • I've only really learned the Spanish I've picked up by osmosis, living in areas with large Spanish speaking populations. I'm actually genuinely proud of myself for being able to read this simple comic. Lmao

    Edit:

My favorite Spanish sentence, and the only one I can say with any real confidence: Lo siento, mi español es muy malo.

Apparently, I say it with a near flawless accent, though, because whenever I say it people machine-gun Spanish back to me and tell me "no, no, it's very good!"

  • I had fully forgotten the phrase "you'll tie up the phone line!" And I just had a nam style flashback of sneaking internet time during the day when my mom was at work, and praying that no one tried to call
