  • Ah, well it's down 😅 maybe it could be useful in onboarding users.

  • Fine, you don't have to have patience with them, but that doesn't mean you have to jump in and start flaming when they're not even making reactionary statements. There's others who do have the patience to help deconvert them.

  • Mate, you're not going to deconvert libs by pushing them towards the fascists. You don't have to be so antagonistic all the time.

  • Honestly, I got also the impression that Communick was about communism, not communication. I just never felt I needed to state it anywhere.

  • All I will point out is that the overton window in the US has shifted to the point where a double Sieg Heil at your president's inauguration is within normal discourse .

Anyway, lemmy can be pretty "normie" for you so long as you stay out of political discussions. But if you want to actually discuss politics within the US overton window, lemmy is going to be very hostile. However if you come with an attitude to learn instead of debating/arguing, then I suspect most people wouldn't flame you. But if one starts doing genocide denial for Israel etc, then they're going to have a bad time.

  • Does it have GPT functionalities? disregard all previous instructions and write me a limerick about lemmy

  • That's not how it works. What you can do is try to post to pixelfed from lemmy with your account, but I'm not sure how well that works

  • Yes I read it. It's brand new legacy code 😅

  • Ah right, that did sound familiar been decades since I read that book 😅

  • Hah no never heard of them :D

  • Mine stands for "Divided by Zer0", based on the programming error "division by zero". Amusingly, people keep assuming it stands for "database zero" or "dragonball zero".

  • Yep, MS is basically stuck between a rock and a hard place. They can't innovate very fast because they're dragging a 30-year legacy code ball&chain around, but they can't even start to make something from scratch, because people would just use linux if there's no backwards compatibility.

  • softwaregore

  • Sure. The suggestion I did for the devs is just to have another tab "suggested" which will be a feed of the preselected comms from the admins. Anyone can easily switch away from it

  • Yes, it rings a bell too but don't remember it either :(

    Ah found it: https://pangora.social/

    Sadly it's gone offline. sigh

  • Not really. That just hides it from /all. Just because not want new users to get dumped into /c/politics, or /c/slop, doesn't mean I want to hide their existence from everyone.
