  • We need to go back to cave paintings. It’s just hard to send a whole cave through the internet though.

  • Man, if all it takes to be a CEO is to make stupid decisions, they should just hire me. I’m the master at that.

  • What a loss that would be though.

  • They're streets ahead.

  • It doesn't. I just find stuff like this interesting. I don't really see a lot of the early memes get used anymore and I kind of wonder why? Do all of them have modern equivalents? Are some of them just no longer that useful for the jokes/ideas people want to express? Is this just an evolution of slang kind of thing where it just signifies if you are hip enough to know what's in and what's out of fashion?

  • Antisocial media.

  • The extra strange thing is he usually just leaves afterwards. He doesn't move into any spot where he's ok with getting pet.

  • My cat is kinda weird. No real proper meows, but a few sounds and mannerisms that tell me what he wants and one which I genuinely have no clue about.

    • A kind of low volume, breathy, “heh”. He only really does this if we are already close to the food. If he’s anywhere else, he doesn’t say anything, he just behaves differently to how he acts when he wants attention. Way more mischievous and annoying.
    • He wants attention frequently, but only in certain spots. For example, in my room he will only sit at the foot of my bed. He won’t sit on my desk or the chair next to me, nor will he move closer if I’m already in bed so I can pet him without moving. So what he will do if he comes in the room and I’m not in position, he goes to his spot, then just purrs or breathes really loudly. It’s super passive aggressive. He wants to let me know he is not pleased to be ignored, but not enough to move to me. Eventually he leaves if I don’t give him enough attention quickly enough. Idk why he can’t just sleep on my bed for a while if he’s just gonna go sleep somewhere else anyway.
    • Sometimes he walks around the house carrying stuffed animals in his mouth and makes weird, pathetic sounding noises. Hard to describe. But it doesn’t SEEM like he wants our attention or anything. So, idk.
  • The only season I can enjoy outside is Fall. Summer is too hot, Winter is too cold, and I get allergies in the Spring.

    Fall is perfect.

  • One time when I was a kid, my friend and I decided to take random stuff from the pantry and just mix it all together into one drink. That was genuinely heinous.

  • On the internet, nobody knows that you’re a dog their wife. (Joking. Or am I? :P)

  • Huh. I don’t think I’ve seen a band where the drummer was the singer before.

  • Well, except for small, unimportant things like sending people to another country to go kill people.

  • I’d love to let my cat sleep in my room. He just won’t be reasonable about it and let me sleep. So the door stays shut.

  • Surely a second hand wedding ring must be cursed or something right? Why was it available in the first place? Did they die? Get divorced? Lose their hands and or fingers in some fetish play gone horribly wrong?

Better to just avoid the whole situation and get a cat.

  • I had a PC/Typing class in school. I never ended up using it. I basically learned the way I type from playing WoW and other online games with text chats. I mostly use my left hand for typing and occasionally use my right for some keys briefly.

I’m sure if I took a typing speed test I wouldn’t be as fast as someone using the home keys, but it’s worked well enough for me.

  • Thanks. I'll try that out for a while.

  • Ultimately, pacifism isn’t about choosing to reject violence, it’s about choosing who is an acceptable target of the violence and the choice is made to appear as a non-choice by failing to categorize state violence as violence because you are not the current target of that violence. How many of the powerless should die to save the powerful from any consequences? I don’t think utilitarianism always makes the most sense, but I think this is a case where the math and morality should make it clear why this is a deeply flawed way of thinking.

  • Also not an expert, just talking from what I remember from history class: in the mid 19th century, Japan underwent a period of rapid westernization and industrialization called the Meiji Restoration. This was at least in part a response to western interference in the region, including a pivotal moment when the US forced the country to sign unequal trade deals by showing up with some big naval vessels.

So it was kind of a love-hate relationship. They didn’t like the westerners invading their country, but they also admired them enough that they not only adopted western tech, but also a bunch of social and political customs.
