  • That is a really good use case.

  • Got it. Never even thought about looking into books when I was getting into the hobby. It was all just searching and following online guides. I am curious if there's anything out there other than the typical linux/networking stuff.

  • Guys, OP is asking for recommendations for books about self-hosting, not recommendations on how to self-host books.

  • I've been on purelymail.com for a couple of years. Receive about 1000 emails a month and send out about 50. Averaging around $0.40/month. They also have a flat rate option of $10/year as long as you don't abuse the system.

  • I saw this in the selfhosted newsletter and decided to give it a shot. I liked stirling but also found it slow. My first reaction after trying Bento was "this is magic, how does this work?"

I have it running on a pi4 now.

  • I took a quick look and was shocked to see prices are at least double for used thinkcentres compared to what I usually see here in Canada. Why are they so expensive in Germany?

  • Also trying the flatpak version might be worth a shot.

    flatpak install flathub org.jellyfin.JellyfinServer

  • One person asked for this. It has been an obsession of Adams' (PCWorld) since he started sniffing the exhaust of steam decks. There was one vendor at CES selling scented thermal paste. I find the whole thing hilarious.

  • "Intel will continue to have GPU product offerings,”

The headline is misleading. GPU offering could refer to their integrated GPUs rather than discrete cards.

  • I was watching the fullnerd podcast and they mentioned that Linux seems to be a trending topic that is being picked up by the YouTube algorithm. I use Invidious so it's not something I would notice but I wonder if that's part of the reason we're seeing more newbie Linux content these days.

  • It's possible the situation has changed to a degree where AMD overtook Intel in the intervening years, but I think we would've seen some headlines if that was the case. I couldn't find any reliable sources either way.

As someone who has no allegiance to either company, I really want Intel to turn things around and be a strong competitor again so that we can all benefit from their resources in the open source space.

  • I run all AMD but this is a sad trend for everyone. Intel has been very good to linux over the years and AMD has a lot of catching up to do to have the same kind of influence in linux.

  • You would use your home directory in place of %h
